Several women have reported getting punched in the face for no apparent reason while walking on the streets of New York. What is the cause of this?

The women in New York City are on high alert as there have been several reports of unprecedented attacks in the streets. Many of these victims have taken to social media platforms like TikTok and Instagram to share their stories with hopes that they would get justice.
Their stories are quite baffling as the attacks seem to be random and motivated by gender hatred.

TikToker Halley Kate was a recent victim of one of the attacks. She recounted her story in a TikTok video, showing her viewers the goose egg-sized bump that her attacker gave her.
According to Kate, she was walking down the street, minding her business, when a man who she didn’t recognize came up to her and punched her in the head.

After receiving a lot of concern and questions about her initial video, the TikToker made a follow-up. There, she explained how the attacker hit her, screamed offensive slurs at her, and made her fall to the ground. She ran away to safety and went to get medical care immediately. After this, she reported the incident to the police, who told her that she was one of many other women who had suffered the same fate.

Over 20 million people have viewed her video, and thousands of comments have shown their support for her.
Both women and men have expressed their sympathy for her while also hoping justice will prevail. In addition, many other women mentioned that they have also suffered the same fate in the past couple of months. Therefore, this was not a one-time attack.

After Kate’s video went viral, many other women came out to share similar stories. Therefore, she’s not the only victim of this kind of attack. Several women made their own videos recounting their experiences on TikTok.
Another TikToker, Mikayla Toninato, shared her story after getting the courage from Kate. She suffered a blackened eye which she showed to back up her claims.

Since the stories went viral, people have tried to find the similarities between the attacks. Was there a particular reason why the attacker targeted these people? As of today, no one is really sure. Instead, the only similarity between the attacks is the victims being women. They were not bothering anyone, with most of them looking at their phones, texting, or sending emails when their attacker hit them in the face.

Another woman, Olivia Brand, shared her story, saying she was just walking down the street when someone punched her in the head. While there are dozens of similar stories, they all sound very much alike.
Therefore, people are wondering if the attacker is the same or if there are multiple people hitting women. As it is happening in the same area, is it the same man waiting to attack the unsuspecting victims?

Without a doubt, the victims of these attacks are only women. Since women are the only targets, it raises a lot of concern for the community. What’s more, there is no definite reason for these attacks. The attacker did not hit them multiple times or harass them sexually. Therefore, it is even more worrisome that there is no clear objective other than punishing women for simply existing.

The women who were attacked shared their stories with several warnings to others. They are telling women to be highly vigilant while walking. They are also telling them to stay off their phones to be able to notice any suspicious activity around them.
Some women saw their attack coming at first and ducked, but the attacker still hit them eventually.

Celebrities are not left out of this streak of attacks. Bethenny Frankel, a popular star of the Real Housewives of New York City franchise, shared a similar story.
She commented on Kate’s video, sharing her story as well. The reality TV star said that the same thing happened to her while she was walking to a bakery in the city a few months ago.

Although these attacks are very similar, the police have yet to find a strong connection between them. A police spokesperson told Buzzfeed that they are not yet aware of any connection between all the incidents. However, they have their suspicions as the attacks are too similar to dismiss as totally random.

The spokesperson also mentioned to Buzzfeed that they had made an arrest concerning Kate’s attack. On Wednesday, March 27th, the NYPD arrested Skiboky Stora, a 40-year-old man. They charged him with assault on behalf of the TikToker.
They also mentioned that Stora posted a lot of videos of himself harassing women around the city on multiple occasions. He also ran for office several times and lost.
