Explaining how she managed to get Slim Shady on her album, Minaj explained she sent Eminem a song which he did not like but subsequently asked her to another which he could work on.
The “Chun Li” crooner was so touched by his response that she sent him a mail to say thank you because Eminem replying meant he respected her as a peer, unlike some other musicians who would have ignored her. The song they evenutually made together “Roman’s Revenge,” reached number 56 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Minaj and Eminem’s unique relationship continued when the former name-dropped Minaj in 2011 in a song on the EP “Hell: The Sequel” by the group “Bad Meets Evil” formed by him and Rapper Royce da 5’9.” In the song, Eminem rapped about having sex with Minaj.
Not long after, Minaj sent her reply to Eminem when she featured on Ciara’s song “I’m Out.” In the piece, she criticized Eminem’s explicit comment about her.
But that did not stop Eminem from name-dropping her again in the song “Vegas.” Unlike his first lines about her, this time around, Eminem praised Minaj by reconstructing a cue from her song “Lookin Ass.”
In 2016 Minaj shouted out to Eminem on his 44th birthday with a particular post on her Instagram page. She also disclosed how they sent songs back and forth before finally making “Roman’s Revenge” in 2010.
Just a year later, during an interview, Minaj also praised Eminem for being one of the artists that influenced her rap style.
Surprisingly their relationship took a different turn when Minaj sparked a dating rumor between her and Eminem in 2018.

Dating rumors between Eminem and Nicki Minaj started in 2018 when the latter posted a video clip on her Instagram where she was rapping along to her verse on a song titled “Big Bank” by rapper YG.
She tagged the video with one of her lines from the song, which alluded she and Eminem were dating. It read:
“Told them I met Slim Shady. Bagged an Em.”
Under the comment section, one of her fans asked if she and Eminem were dating, to which Minaj responded, “yes.”
Just some weeks later, more fuel was added to the dating rumors when while performing in Boston, Eminem asked his fans if they would love to see him date Minaj.
When fans at the show replied they would, Eminem also declared he would like to date Minaj. After that, he asked Minaj to text him if she got the message so they could talk.
Eminem’s words at the show sparked a lot of chatter among fans of both artists as they wondered if the pair might be in a relationship.
However, Minaj poured cold water on a prospective relationship by calling Eminem goofy and silly like herself. She then joked that their first date would be in the studio, where she would stare into his eyes as he wrote his verse.
