According to data from Google Trends, the topic “What is emotional intelligence?” was Googled three times as often in February 2024 as it was ten years earlier.
The increase in interest makes sense because emotional intelligence, or EQ, has become more and more popular in recent years, with everyone from CEOs to therapists praising its advantages.

Emotional intelligence is more difficult to measure than other kinds of talents. Examining your most recent interactions can help you determine if you possess high emotional intelligence.

“Leave me for a moment. It will facilitate my mental clarity.” you saying this word helps with controlling your own feelings.
Before we proceed, could you please let me know what’s on your mind or in your heart?” This way of recognizing emotions and still trying to be considerate, while providing a safe space.
The reasons why words matter are as follows: Utilizing particular phrases has a direct and instantaneous impact on our emotional reactions, as research has demonstrated. Hence, even if you could believe that in order to use the terms above, you must possess the traits of an emotionally intelligent person, the reverse is also true.

Deep, attentive listening is a sign of great emotional intelligence. Posing more emotionally charged questions is one way to demonstrate that you are paying attention to the conversation.
Inquiries such as “How did that make you feel?” and “What might have led you to that?” Both express concern and interest in the other person.
You may also show empathy by using appropriate body language. Eye contact, nodding your head, and expressing uh huh are some ways to demonstrate your interest in the topic at hand.
