In a similar fashion, another Jerry Seinfeld event was interrupted by pro-Palestine protesters. This follows a string of show disruptions that have plagued the comedian.

Earlier this month, on May 12, 2024, we witnessed pro-Palestinian demonstrators storming out of the comedian’s commencement speech at Duke University. He was also heckled repeatedly on Saturday, May 20, during his performance in Norfolk, Virginia.

In the video that surfaced online, a pro-Palestine protester was shouting at him, calling him a genocide supporter, during his performance.

In the video, Seinfeld, in a bid to deflect, said he enjoyed a little antisemitism to spice up the performance. He responded to the protester by saying the message had passed and the guests were listening. All this happened while there was a very growing sound of boos and jeers, which could be heard echoing across the crowd.

The audience was heard chanting his name to get the show back on track. By doing this, they were showing support for the comedian before security was seen escorting the demonstrators outside forcefully.

When Seinfeld’s agents were called to get a comment about the incident, one of his agents answered. They gave details about how ten individuals disrupted the comedian’s sold-out show on May 20.

They also confirmed that the individuals were removed without further problems. The show started at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday and was performed at Chrysler Hall in Virginia to a sold-out audience.

SevenVenues, the hall managers, issued a statement in which they were seen apologizing for the incident at the hall. The company also promised to ensure the safety of its ticket buyers in the future when they come to see their favorite acts.

Seinfeld has been a staunch supporter of Israel since the beginning of the country’s conflict in Gaza. During his speech at the Duke’s, pro-Palestinian supporters who also came in with their flags could be seen walking out.

Seinfeld visited Israel last year following the horrific Oct. 7 attack by the terrorist organization Hamas. He acknowledged that he had not expected his trip to generate such a negative reaction, something he claims surprised him and a lot of Jewish people. However, he claims he has no regrets.

When asked about his thoughts on the situation, he said he has spoken to his friends and family about the issue privately. Additionally, he claimed he couldn’t make a big deal out of it because his emotions on the issue were relatively strong.

Stating his reason for going to Israel last year, he said it was to show support for the Israelis in a period where antisemitism seems to be rekindling in some places.

Seinfeld refrained from making any public remarks during the Duke or Chrysler Hall demonstrations. Rather, in his Duke commencement speech, the comedian addressed students about the need to preserve their sense of humor.
