For Americans who are wanderlust and travel enthusiasts, it’s never too early to make travel plans. Colorado is the quintessential vacation destination for adventure enthusiasts, from its world-class ski resorts to scenic views. However, it is also one of the most ideal places to settle in the US.

According to a recent report, the Centennial State should be your go-to place for a quiet and serene getaway. As the cost of living in the US skyrockets, Colorado is the right place for you to settle in. But looking for the right city to live in Colorado might be a hassle.

But we got you; we know just the right place for you to visit or settle down in. Fort Collins, a city about an hour north of Denver, is the most peaceful place to live in the U.S. According to the Insider Monkey, Fort Collins, followed by Boulder, is the most serene city in the country.

The company analyzed data on noise levels in the city and considered access to outdoor spaces like parks. Afterward, they compared it with the best quality of life in the country. According to the report, the average noise level in Fort Collins is 38.03 BA.

According to the Hearing Health Foundation, this noise level is the same as rustling leaves or the average room noise. In addition, Fort Collins scored 73% in access to nearby outdoor spaces. Besides its surprisingly low noise level and high access to outdoor spaces, the city provides essential services to residents.

Since the beginning of the pandemic in 2020, Fort Collins’ public transportation has been fare-free and might stay this way. Consequently, the city encourages people to hop on the bus or their bikes. In addition, the city has one of the highest numbers of bicycle commuters in the country.

Due to the high availability of bike lanes, residents hop on their bikes instead of driving their cars. This further reduces noise levels and makes it one of the best destinations for car-free living. Talk about heaven on earth, with its breezy air and warm weather.

Furthermore, historic downtown Fort Collins inspired Disneyland’s Main Street USA. The downtown features small businesses, restored buildings, and walkways and often hosts cultural events. Also, the city houses many vibrant breweries, museums, and college campuses.

Also, if you like having a quiet moment and need to walk a little, get to the Cache la Poudre River. The river passes through the city and provides residents with many opportunities for water sports and peaceful walks. The beautiful scenery makes it perfect for evening walks, leaving you ecstatic and warm.

The icing on top has to be the wide range of outdoor recreation. Fort Collins rewards its visitors and residents with an abundance of year-round activities that run the city, from public swimming pools, golf courses, and ice skating facilities to camping, fishing, and birdwatching in nature.

The city also has an excellent network of over 280 hiking and biking trails and 966 acres of parks. The town is full of lakes and reservoirs like the idyllic Horsetooth Reservoir. According to reports, 1,900 acres of public land surround the reservoir.

There is something for everyone in Fort Collins. Hence, it is the most peaceful city to live in the U.S. Consequently, here’s a reminder to add Fort Collins to your list of travel destinations this year.
