Tamera Mowry has starred in multiple movies and Tv shows since her on-screen debut in the 1990s. Let’s take a look at her filmography.

Tamera Mowry is a famous and talented American actress and model. She rose to fame during the 1990s, starring in the ABC and Warner Bros. hit series “Sister Sister.” The actress who is a twin, starred in the series with her twin sister Tia. Unsurprisingly, since her debut in the industry, she has only gone from strength to strength.

Early Life

Tamera Mowry was born on July 6, 1978 in Gelnhausen, Germany. She was born to biracial parents. Her mother, Darlene Mowry, is of Afro-Bahamian descent, while her father, Timothy John Mowry, is English.

Tamera, a twin, is two minutes older than her twin sister Tia. However, the sisters both developed a passion for acting very young. They were also very talented, and both knew they would make it as actors.

The twins convinced their parents of their dreams, and in 1990 the family moved from Germany to Los Angeles. Tamera and Tia started their career by contesting in pageants and talent shows. Producers quickly noticed the twins, and they soon started landing minor television roles.

Tamera made her first television appearance in the series “Flesh ‘n Blood” as the character Penelope. She followed that up with an appearance in the film “True Colors.” Tamera then starred alongside her twin sister in their brother’s show “Full House.” That appearance led to her breakthrough role in the series “Sister, Sister” alongside Tia. 

The “Sister, Sister” opportunity came about after a producer spotted the twins on the set of “Full House.” ABC network aired “Sister, Sister” during its early run. But after two years, the studio canceled the series. Thankfully, Warner Bros picked the series up, allowing the sisters to shine for another four years.

Tamera performed brilliantly in the series, and it earned her praises for her artistic brilliance and overall on-screen persona as Tamera Campbell’s character. While appearing on the series, she also got multiple offers to star in other shows. Tamera guest-starred in various shows, including “Are You Afraid of the Dark?” and “Smart Guy.”

Additionally, she did voice roles for “The Adventures of Hyperman” and “Detention.” In 2000 Tamera also appeared in the films “Something to Sing About,” and “Seventeen Again.”

Tamera’s Continued Success 

In 2001, Tamra, alongside her sister, featured in the interstitial series “ Express Yourself,” which aired till 2005. In 2002, the actress starred as Sissy in “The Hot Chick.” Then in 2004, Tamera landed the lead role of Dr. Kayla Thorton in the medical drama “Strong Medicine.” The medical series was a success, and it aired for two years until 2006. 

A year before the series ended, Tamera starred in the Disney film “Twitches.” She also reprised her role in the spin-off “Twitches Too.” Also, in 2005, the actress starred as Allison in “Hollywood Horror.”

After “Strong Medicine” ended in 2006, Tamera voiced Esther for the television series “Family Guy.” In 2009 Tamera bagged the lead role as Hope Daniels in the series “Roommates” and “The Super Hero Squad.” Then a year later, she starred in “Double Wedding.” 

In 2011 the talented actress appeared in “Things We Do For Love” and the reality series “Tia and Tamera.” The reality followed the day-to-day events in the lives of the twins. It followed Tia’s journey through pregnancy and Tamera’s wedding plans. In 2012, Tamera starred as Michelle in “Redemption of a Dog,” Daphne Conroy in the TV movie “Christmas Angel,” and Vanessa in “Rebounding.”

In 2014 the actress featured in the series “Melissa and Joey” as Gillian. She also appeared as herself in the series “Hollywood Darling.” Three years later, she starred in “Daytime Divas” as herself. Then in 2019, Tamera featured as Emma in the movie “A Christmas Miracle.”

In 2020 she appeared as Cheryl Jenkins in the TV movie “Christmas Comes Twice,” and in 2021, “The Santa Stakeout” as Tanya Morris. Away from acting, in 2013, Tamera started hosting the talk show “The Real” with her former Disney star Adrienne Bailon, Jeanne Mai, and Loni Love.

The actress and her sister have also branched into music. They were in a singing group during the early 1990s called “Voices.” The group made their debut with the song “Yeah, Yeah, Yeah! In 1992. The song charted at number 72 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Tamera Mowry’s Personal Life 

Tamera is currently married to her husband, Adam Housley. The pair exchanged marital vows in May 2011. The latter is a one-time professional baseball player who represented Milwaukee Brewers and the Detroit Tigers minor league organizations.

Adam transitioned into journalism and has since become a very recognized journalist.  He worked as a correspondent on “Fox News” before leaving in 2018.

Tamera and Adam reportedly met after a professor at Pepperdine University, Robert Sexton, set them up. The journalist saw her picture among those of the professor’s favorite students.

Although Tamera resisted his advances at first, she eventually fell for Adam. They welcomed their first child, Aden John Tanner Housely, on November 12, 2012. The family expanded when daughter Raiah Talea Housely arrived on July 1, 2015.

Where is She Now?

In 2020 Tamera announced she was leaving her role as the host of “The Real” after seven years. The announcement arrived a couple of weeks after the actress lost her close friend Naya Rivera although it had nothing to do with her decision.

In the Instagram post that she released to announce her departure, Tamera listed her achievements hosting the show, including the two NAACP Image Awards and a Daytime Emmy. The talented actress also thanked her viewers and her co-hosts for the beautiful times they spent working together.

Months after leaving the reality show, Tamera announced she had signed a new deal to expand her relationship with Crown Media Family Networks. The deal will see her star in and produce movies for the network.
