“America’s Got Talent” host Simon Cowell is engaged to his longtime lover, Laura Silverman. However, their romance was not all smooth as things sparked off controversially.
Simon Cowell’s reputation as the blunt judge of the popular music show “America’s Got Talent” sometimes overshadows his personal life. The music mogul has been in a longtime relationship with Lauren Silverman. However, their relationship was somewhat controversial in the beginning.
Since they first became lovers, the duo has never escaped the sniffing noses of the press. The British music producer first met Lauren at Barbados’ Sandy Lane resort in 2004. At the time, she was on a holiday trip with her ex-husband, real estate mogul Andrew Silverman.
Cowell and Andrew quickly became friends, but close sources claimed that the father of one immediately had his eyes on Lauren. However, the “AGT” producer continued his relationship with other women, including entertainment journalist Terri Seymour and makeup artist Mezhgan Hussainy.
THE SECRET ROMANCE
Cowell and the makeup artist were engaged from 2010 to 2011 but called it off, claiming it was a big mistake. The English TV personality has often thought of himself as a lady’s man, and true to his nature, he eventually got his dream girl, Lauren.
Simon reportedly began a secret relationship with Lauren, a socialite, even though she was married to Andrew. Things became public after Lauren got pregnant in 2013.
Andrew filed for a divorce, citing adultery as his reason. Their divorce was finalized that year, but Cowell was issued a strict warning to stay away from the couple’s son, Adam, or face a huge fine.
Lauren and Cowell welcomed their son Eric in 2014, and following the child’s birth, the “The X Factor” host claimed fatherhood had softened him and made him a changed person. Sadly, this did not stop him from being trolled as a homewrecker.
Cowell later opened up about his relationship with Lauren and the criticism that followed, noting that he was not proud of it. However, he added that he never intended to hurt anyone in the process. Sources claim that the famous show host and Andrew have long settled their differences.
NOT AN AFFAIR!
Despite Cowell’s gentle approach, Lauren claimed she did not cheat on Andrew, adding that he was fully aware of her romance with the “American Idol” star. The socialite allegedly confided in friends that her ex-husband was also having an affair.
Lauren further claimed that Andrew never had problems with her frequent phone conversations with the music mogul. On the contrary, according to her, she had a mutual understanding with her ex-husband.
THE ENGAGEMENT
After a decade of dating, Cowell finally popped the question to his heartthrob. The music executive proposed to Lauren during a trip to Barbados. The father of one had previously said he did not believe in marriage, so his proposal came as a surprise to many.
On Christmas Eve, Cowell reportedly proposed in front of his seven-year-old son, Eric, and step-son Adam. Sources claim that Lauren was thrilled by the proposal as she never expected it. She happily said yes!
