A lot of celebrity marriages come to an end and open the doors to disrespectful comments from either or both parties. However, Sam Asghari is hoping never to join that never-ending list. The actor says he will never speak badly about his ex-wife and global pop star Britney Spears.
In a new interview with People, the 30-year-old recently opened up about his divorce. He told the outlet that it “was a blessing” to have shared his life with her “for a long time.” “People grow apart, and people move on.”
The couple has been together since 2017 after he worked with Spears on her “Slumber Party” music video. They started dating and got engaged in September 2021. In June 2022, they officially tied the knot.
However, it shocked the world when, just a year later, in August 2023, Asghari filed for divorce. Their fans had many theories, and rumors were flying in many directions. The “Toxic” singer took to Instagram, addressing the divorce much later.

“6 years is a long time to be with someone, so I’m a little shocked, but … I’m not here to explain why because it’s honestly nobody’s business!!!” she wrote. Furthermore, she added that she had “been playing it strong for way too long, and my Instagram may seem perfect, but it’s far from reality, and I think we all know that.”
Asghari also added the situation via Instagram. He wrote, “After six years of love and commitment to each other, my wife and I have decided to end our journey together. We will hold onto the love and respect we have for each other, and I wish her the best always.”

Asghari told People magazine that he “never understood” when couples “talk badly about each other” after parting ways.” Therefore, he does not plan to do so with the “Gimme More” singer. “That’s something I’m never going to do because I had nothing but an amazing experience and a great life, and that’s always going to be part of my life, a chapter of my life,” he said.
For Asghari, this was his first marriage. However, this was Spears’ third rodeo. Her first husband was Kevin Federline, the father of her two sons, Sean and Jayden. They were together from 2004 until 2007 when they split.

Her second marriage was to Jason Alexander, a childhood friend, while she married in Las Vegas for only 55 hours. This made several headlines as one of the shortest celebrity marriages of all time. In her memoir, she explained that they both made an impulsive decision but weren’t in love. They were drunk or, in her words, “sh*tfaced.”
Hollywood couples usually say the nastiest things about each other after a split, so it was admirable of Asghari to take a stance against this. Since their divorce, he hasn’t said anything negative about the “Sometimes” singer and hopes to keep it that way.
