Renowned actor Robert De Niro never holds back his thoughts, especially about former president Donald Trump. Recently, he made headlines again for calling Trump “a mean, nasty, hateful person” and warning that supporting him would result in nightmares.
It means supporting a descent into a nightmare. The Hollywood icon appeared on “Real Time with Bill Maher” just before the Oscars. Despite being nominated for Best Supporting Actor for “Killers of the Flower Moon,” he didn’t dwell on the awards. Instead, he discussed his familiar topic: how Donald Trump is, in his words, “a total monster.”
At the 2018 Tony Awards, De Niro didn’t hold back when expressing his opinion on Trump. He went on by saying, “F**k Trump,” before introducing Bruce Springsteen’s performance. Till now, his stance remains unchanged, as he repeated to Maher that voting for Trump is choosing to live in a nightmare.
“The bottom line is, it’s Biden versus Trump,” De Niro said. “We wanna live in a world that we wanna live in and enjoy living in, or a nightmare? Vote for Trump. You’ll get the nightmare. Vote for Biden, we’ll be back to normalcy.”

The Godfather Star firmly said that he would never play the role of former President Trump in any film. He explained that he sees no good qualities in Trump, which makes it impossible for him to portray the character.
The outspoken Oscar-winning actor has made it clear that he doesn’t want Trump to be president again. He has actively encouraged voters to cast their ballots for Joe Biden instead.

“The bottom line is, it’s Biden versus Trump,” De Niro said. ”We wanna live in a world that we want to live in and enjoy living in, or live in a nightmare? Vote for Trump and you’ll get the nightmare, vote for Biden and we’ll be back to normalcy. Just don’t want to feel the way I did, and many of us don’t, after the election in 2016 where we couldn’t believe that it happened,” he added.
He was also pushed to explain why he believes Trump appears to be gaining support, including from women. But De Niro admitted he didn’t have a clear answer to the question. He said he wanted to avoid the emotions he experienced when Trump won in 2016. He was reluctant to go into the complexities of Trump’s appeal.
The guy is a total monster,” he said. “I don’t understand it. I guess they get behind the kind of logic, they wanna f**k with people, screw them because they’re unhappy with something. He’s such a mean, nasty, hateful person. I’d never play him as an actor because I can’t see any good in him. Nothing. Nothing at all. Nothing redeemable in him.”

And, coming from a guy who’s spent most of his career playing mobsters and killers, this says a lot. Now Trump, who isn’t one to shy away from criticisms, has responded to De Niro’s criticisms.
Earlier in December, Trump attacked De Niro, calling him “a stupid-sounding guy, a low IQ individual.” He mocked as he posted on his Truth Social account, saying, “Robert DeNiro has a terminal case of Trump Derangement Syndrome.”
