Florida Authorities have arrested a 62-year-old pastor for allegedly drugging and sexually assaulting a teenager. According to reports, the suspect, Monte Chitty, spiked the drink of a 15-year-old in the library of a church. This shockingly disturbing news is causing a lot of worry among members of the pastor’s church.
He is a highly respected pastor at First Baptist Church in Marathon, Florida. However, the so-called man of God used his position as an opportunity to molest this little girl. According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, the authorities were alerted when an anonymous caller reported overhearing a teen girl telling an adult that she had been raped.
The caller added that the girl and her grandmother were on a dinghy and heading into the harbor. Therefore, the officers had a good idea of their whereabouts. Then they tried to find the teenager and her grandmother.
However, while this search continued, Chitty called the sheriff’s office. He said he wanted “to get ahead of” accusations that some people were about to lie against him. The pastor told deputies that a young girl at his church had been drinking, and she passed out on the couch in the church’s library.

Then, he claimed that he helped her to lie down on the couch and did not touch her afterward. Without a doubt, this raised many eyebrows as to why Chitty made the call. Eventually, the deputies successfully tracked down the teen on the boat where she lives.
Therefore, she gave her account of the story. She accused the pastor of giving her alcohol that she believed was “spiked” with something that made her feel very weak. Not long after, she lost consciousness and woke up to Chitty molesting her.

At that point, the detectives decided to investigate to get to the bottom of the story. They checked both the victim’s and Chitty’s phones and found many implicating text messages. In the texts, Chitty mentioned having sexual relations with the girl while she was impaired, according to the sheriff’s office.
Therefore, it was clear that he was lying to the authorities all along. They booked him into the Monroe County Detention Center without wasting time. His charges are sexual assault and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. They also set his bond at $75,000.
Furthermore, the sheriff’s office disclosed that the pastor was a registered volunteer with their office. However, since he registered in April 2023, he has not done any service for the office.

In addition, this raises many concerns for parents whose children are in the church. Is this teenager his first victim? Or is this just one of many people whom he has molested? Until more victims come out or speak up anonymously, the authorities are still carrying out investigations.
If the charges against the pastor get him a conviction, they could lock him away for a long time.
