Prince Harry has been spotted in the United Kingdom. The Duke of Sussex flew in from California on Tuesday afternoon following the shocking announcement of his father, King Charles III’s health.

On Monday, Buckingham Palace announced that King Charles III had been diagnosed with cancer and would commence treatment immediately. The Palace also clarified that although the cancer was discovered while he was being treated for an enlarged prostate, it wasn’t prostate cancer.

What kind it was, the Palace doesn’t seem ready to say. Prince Harry and the royal family have been at loggerheads since 2020 following his and his wife’s resignation from all royal duties.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped down from their major royal roles after the Royal Family refused to grant them a compromise they had requested. The couple had asked that the house allow them to serve in the royal family and pursue their careers.

They hoped to reduce public intrusion and make more independent choices through this arrangement. Following their resignation, they kept their titles but moved to California, where they’ve been pursuing individual careers and lives independent of the Palace.

The Prince has visited the United Kingdom several times in the past years. But reports say that he hasn’t had any contact with his father. Plus, speculation is that they last crossed paths in King Charles III’s coronation ceremony.

Furthermore,  it appears Prince Harry made this trip alone. He was photographed being driven into the king’s London residence, Clarence House, in the early hours of noon. Prince Harry sat alone in a black SUV; his wife and children were, however, not in the picture.

His arrival and the conditions surrounding it have sparked rumors of a reconciliation between Harry and the royal family. The royal family may be an institution, but it’s also a family, and challenges like this can strengthen familial bonds.

Still, the father-son encounter lasted only a short time, an average of 45 minutes. Sources report that King Charles and Queen Camilla had to leave shortly afterward for their country estate in Sandringham.

A royal source also reports that Prince Harry has expressed no interest in meeting with Prince William while in the United Kingdom. This doesn’t come as a surprise considering how much worse their relationship got after Prince Harry released his autobiography “Spare.”

In this book, Prince Harry shared instances of Prince William being verbally and physically abusive. The book also revealed they were not the joined-at-the-hip image they presented to the world.

It is still uncertain where Prince Harry will stay. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex vacated their official residence in 2023. It was reported that the Prince lodged in a hotel on his last visit to London to attend the WellChild Awards.

Royal historian Kate Williams believes that it’s significant that the fifth-in-line-to-the-throne flew back to see his father. She stated, “We haven’t seen him since the coronation, he is rushing over a reason. This is family – it is a business and family. It is a moment of reconciliation.”
