Noel and Liam Gallagher have called off their 15-year feud and announced the reunion of their renowned rock band, Oasis. British rock band Oasis announced on Tuesday, August 23, that they would reconcile after 15 years, with brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher planning a series of live gigs in the United Kingdom next year.

Oasis, whose debut album “Definitely Maybe” came out 30 years ago, disbanded in 2009 when lead guitarist and main composer Noel Gallagher stated that he could no longer collaborate with frontman Liam Gallagher.

“This is it, this is happening,” the band announced on X. As part of a globe tour, Oasis announced plans to play 14 shows in Cardiff, Wales, Manchester, England (where the band was formed in 1991), London, Edinburgh, Scotland, and Dublin. Dates for the United States have yet to be announced.

“The guns have gone silent. The stars have aligned. The long wait is over. Come see. It will not be televised,” the band stated on their website.

Tuesday’s statement comes after a weekend of rumors about a reunion, which, according to music streaming platform Spotify, resulted in a 160% increase in global streaming over a two-hour period compared to the previous week.

What Is Oasis’ Most Successful Song?

“Wonderwall” is Oasis’ band’s most successful song. The song appeared in the band’s second studio album, “(What’s the Story) Morning Glory?” in 1995. It peaked at number two in the UK and Ireland, topped the charts in Australia and New Zealand, and finished in the top ten in the United States.

Radio X’s Best of British poll in 2016 named it the ultimate British song. A sheet of paper with the song lyrics scrawled by Noel sold for £46,875 at a Propstore auction in November 2022.

It was the longest-running song in the UK Top 100 list, never reaching number one, until it was eclipsed in May by The Killers’ “Mr Brightside.”

What Caused Oasis To Break Up?

The story of the Oasis brothers’ feud is lengthy and winding. It includes a tambourine, a cricket bat, and plenty of alcohol. It also inspired some of the greatest insults of our time, such as Noel’s remark that Liam was “the angriest man you’ll ever meet.”

Liam revealed on Radio X that Noel departed Oasis because he “couldn’t handle the vibes anymore.” In August 2009, Noel eventually decided to end his career after a string of public fights, caustic remarks to the media, and no-shows at concerts and festivals.

Following a heated altercation at the Paris Rock en Seine festival, Liam was accused of using Noel’s guitar “like an axe” backstage.

“He was pretty aggressive,” Noel said. “There was a lot of World Wrestling Federation content at the time, but there was no real violence. He almost cut off my face in an act of needless violence.”

Eliminating any question, Noel announced his departure on the Oasis website, citing Liam as the reason. “It’s with some sadness and great relief to tell you that I quit Oasis tonight,” Noel wrote. “People will write and say what they like, but I simply could not go on working with Liam a day longer.”

What Is Oasis’ Biggest Concert?

Knebworth is Oasis’s largest-ever live performance. A total of 500,000 people saw them play; that is, 250,000 per night. A whopping 7,000 people are said to have attended the concerts, making it the largest guest list in history.

The band’s farewell performance was on August 22, 2009, at the Staffordshire stop of the V Festival, as part of their ‘Dig Out Your Soul Tour’.

Due to Liam’s struggle with “laryngitis,” the band had to postpone their performance at the V Festival in Chelmsford. Unfortunately, Oasis announced their breakup shortly after, bringing an end to an era.

Which of the Oasis Brothers is Richer?

Noel Gallagher is reportedly eight times wealthier than his older brother Liam Gallagher, but analysts predict they would make £400 million if the long-rumored reunion materializes.

According to Celebrity Networth, Noel, 57, is believed to be worth £53 million. On the other hand, his younger brother Liam, 51, is only worth £6 million.
