If you want long, luxurious locs, adding hair growth oils to your routine may be just what you need. While tips like using a silk or satin pillowcase are given to people wanting to promote healthy hair, it doesn’t cover hair growth.

Although these hair tips are essential and useful for your hair care journey, there are other ways of getting your desired hair length. One of these remedies is oils, which promote hair growth. However, this doesn’t apply to every oil. Read on to find out which hair growth oils are best for you.

What Oil Is the Best for Hair Growth?

It is every woman’s dream to have long, gorgeous hair. You have probably watched a ton of videos on social media touting the advantages of hair oil. However, with so many options available, many people are worried about choosing the best hair oils for thickness and growth. Some of the best oils for your hair are:

Argan Oil

One of the best types of hair growth oil is argan oil. Argan oil is one of the best types of oil because it contains powerful antioxidants like vitamin E. As a result of its vitamin E content, argan oil helps protect the hair from harmful environmental elements and free radicals.

Additionally, it contains exceptionally high fatty acids, which enhance hair elasticity and prevent split ends and breaking.

Coconut Oil

Coconut oil is another type of hair growth oil. It penetrates the hair shaft, providing moisture and minimizing protein loss, making it ideal for hair growth.

However, what truly makes the oil stand out is the presence of lauric acid. The antifungal qualities of lauric acid combat problems with hair, such as dandruff and a flaky scalp, resulting in a healthier scalp.

Rosemary Oil

Though it may not receive as much attention as some other oils, rosemary oil is growing in popularity. According to recent scientific research, rosemary oil stimulates hair growth right from the hair follicle’s base. Like coconut oil, rosemary oil helps with dandruff issues, encouraging a healthier scalp, which is necessary for hair growth.

However, rosemary oil is mentioned because of its intriguing ability to stop premature gray hairs. This is due to its inhibition of the hormone DHT’s synthesis.

Do Hair Growth Oils Really Work?

Although there is no denying the appeal of hair growth oil, it is important to ask if it genuinely works. Before banking on the effectiveness of hair growth oil, there are numerous factors to consider, such as hormone balance, genetics, and general scalp health.

Although certain oils may be moisturizing and nourishing, they often do not address the underlying causes of hair loss. Hormonal and genetic factors, such as male pattern baldness, play a significant role in certain types of hair loss, which hair growth oils may not completely address.

People who suffer from scalp issues, including dryness, dandruff, or inflammation, may find relief with hair growth oils. In certain situations, applying particular oils can help strengthen the scalp and foster an atmosphere favorable for hair growth.

Although hair growth oils help improve scalp health and conditioning, they don’t fully address genetic and hormonal hair loss complexities.

How Do I Make My Own Hair Growth Oil?

All varieties of hair benefit greatly from hair oils’ nourishing and hydration properties, which also encourage hair development. While there are many commercial options on the market, creating your hair oil at home is a quick, simple, affordable, and natural process.

Among all tips for hair growth and hair management, essential oils are one of the basic ingredients for creating a hair growth oil. In addition to essential oils or plant matter, hair oils typically contain a carrier oil, like coconut or olive oil.

To create a carrier oil, start by gathering castor, coconut, and apricot kernel oils. Subsequently, pour one fl oz (30 ml) castor oil, one fl oz (30 ml) apricot kernel oil, and two fl oz (59 ml) coconut oil into a bowl using a measuring cup.

Fill the bowl with twelve drops of rosemary and six drops of each of the essential oils of lavender, peppermint, and clary sage. Use a glass jar with a well-sealed lid that holds about five fluid ounces (150 ml). After measuring each ingredient, pour it immediately into the jar and replace the cover.

To blend all the ingredients, give the jar a good shake, then apply a small amount of hair oil on your fingertips. To distribute the hair oil, massage your scalp with your fingertips, and after 30 minutes, shampoo your hair and use a cleansing product to remove the hair oil.

Although coconut oil and rosemary oil help hair growth, some still wonder how to grow their hair naturally. According to Dr. Michelle Henry, a dermatologist, there are some ways to improve your hair growth at home.

These methods include reducing your stress level, improving your sleep patterns and nutrition, and avoiding overwashing while limiting heat styling. According to Henry, 60 minutes of exercise can reduce signs and symptoms of female pattern hair loss.
