As the election season approaches, several candidates have dropped controversial comments for any number of reasons. However, the presidential candidates for the Libertarian Party have taken a different approach.

On Sunday, May 23, 2024, Michael Rectenwald revealed he had a weed gummy before his appearance. Rectenwald confessed this in a press conference during the party’s national convention in Washington, D.C.

During the press conference, Rectenwald was noticed behaving out of character. He started the interview by claiming the podium and screaming that he was high on liberals. Mid-interview, he was leaving the press conference with two of the party’s candidates. His reason was that the questions being asked were boring.

After the interview, a reporter said that this was a libertarian event. Reaffirming the party’s ideology, he said they believed in the right to consume. However, he confirmed that the timing wasn’t right, as he was informed of the interview at the last hour. He admitted he would not have consumed the gummy if he had known about the press meeting.

From information posted online, it was reported that Rectenwald admitted that he consumed a weed gummy shortly before the press conference. In defending his actions, he said it wasn’t a big deal.

Taking a jab at Trump, he said he wasn’t involved in any sex-related scandals. He said he was at the convention, and someone offered him a gummy. This comes around the time the Donald Trump hush money trial is coming to an end.

Trump, the Republican candidate, is accused of falsifying records to hide hush money paid to Stormy Daniels during his 2016 campaign. According to Daniels, she claimed that she was involved with Trump in the mid-2000s. Trump has always maintained his innocence, claiming the case is politically motivated against him.
