Kate Winslet decided to take fans on a ride in Wonderland. The stunning actress talked about the kissing scene that blew the audience’s mind in “Titanic.” According to her, the iconic scene where she kissed Leonardo DiCaprio isn’t what we all think it is.
Winslet said that some factors made shooting the scene complicated. Due to where the scene was shot, they couldn’t have all the crew on board. So, Winslet said she had to take care of her and Leonardo DiCaprio’s makeup, which wasn’t easy. The actress also mentioned that DiCaprio wouldn’t stop laughing whenever it was time to shoot the scene. They had to reshoot the scene four times before the director got what he wanted.
Shooting the Kissing Scene Was a Nightmare
While rewatching the kissing scene, Winslet mentioned that DiCaprio is a good “romancer.” Now she understands why every young girl wanted to lock their lips with his. However, for her, the experience was different. Winslet mentioned that the makeup colors she used for her and DiCaprio were two different tones. So, when the kissing scene happened, she ended up looking like she had been sucking a caramel bar. This was because DiCaprio’s makeup kept sticking to her face. However, it wasn’t just her makeup that got messy; DiCaprio’s makeup got messy, too.
A bit of her makeup kept sticking to his face. She also revealed that she didn’t like the scene because she couldn’t breathe properly. If you’re a “Titanic” fan, you’d remember that Winslet wore a corset for that scene. That’s exactly why she said she couldn’t breathe. “Titanic” seems to be the most successful movie of all time. “Whole other generations of people are discovering the film or seeing it for the first time, and there’s something extraordinary about that,” Winslet said.

Cameron Was Hesitant About Casting Winslet
Even though Winslet appears to be a star for her performance in the 1997 classic film, she was never the director’s first choice. On June 12, Variety published a report of an interview with Cameron. In the interview, the movie director mentioned that he was quite hesitant about casting Kate Winslet in the movie. Before appearing in “Titanic,” Winslet had acted in “Hamlet and Sense and Sensibility.” For Cameron, the casting for the film felt like lazy casting. However, his idea changed after his encounter with her. Cameron said he could finally see what every other director saw in Winslet.
He mentioned that on the screen, Winslet is “very alive. She comes into a room with a great deal of confidence, and she’s got that spark of life.” Similarly, Winslet spoke about her relationship with Cameron. She noted that a part of her sadness during that period affected her relationship with him. “He knows I will be up for anything. Any challenge, any piece of direction you give me? I’ll try it,” the English actress added.
Kate Winslet’s Daughter Is an Actress
We won’t deny that Kate Winslet’s role in “Titanic” made her a global star. According to her, she found adjusting to the fame that came with her stellar performance in the movie difficult. She also mentioned that she had a lovely family. However, the only thing her family could see at that time was how she got a role in a big movie. Winslet’s daughter, Mia Threapleton, has also followed in her mother’s footsteps, becoming an actress.
Threapleton has appeared in movies like “Firebrand” and “Scoop.” During the interview, the “Titanic” star was asked if she was nervous about her daughter’s career being in the public eye. The 48-year-old actress could only be grateful to God that the criticism damaged some things. However, the criticisms have stopped.
