A school district in Florida is pulling off two of Bill O’Reilly’s books from their library shelves. However, the move doesn’t seem to sit well with the conservative commentator.
However, school district officials clarified that the book removals are temporary. The publications would be subject to vetting by a committee to identify if they run foul of a state law. Interestingly, O’Reilly was one of the top voices that helped with passing the law in question.
However, O’Reilly’s books are not the only ones to go off the shelf. Instead, Escambia County School District brought about 1,000 books off their library shelves. Their offence? School officials claim they have received book objections from some parents in the district. So, officials are trying to vet the books as they have been “alleged to contain pornography or obscene depictions of sexual conduct.”
Gov. Ron DeSantis signed the law reviewing the contents of Children’s educational books in 2022. While seeking support for the bill, DeSantis made a statement about what the law intends to achieve.
He said, “Unfortunately, we’ve seen some books in some of these libraries, I mean, you’re talking about kids in middle school, some of the stuff that has ended up there is incredibly, incredibly disturbing stuff.”

At the time, Democrats were not in support of the bill. However, O’Reilly was patriotic enough to lend his voice to the cause. DeSantis eventually signed the bill into law in March 2022. Unfortunately, O’Reilly is shocked that the same law threatens to ban two of his books.
The books of O’Reilly affected by the crackdown are Killing Raegan: The Violent Assault That Changed a Presidency and Killing Jesus: A History.
When a news outlet reached out to O’Reilly last week to have his word about the book ban, the conservative commentator did not mince words. He explained how he was left surprised and distraught after hearing the news. During the interview, O’Reilly said, “When DeSantis signed the book law, I supported the theme because there was abuse going on in Florida. But the wording of the law was far too nebulous in Tallahassee…”

In addition, O’Reilly suggested that DeSantis would have to sit up and put the law in reins before far-left progressives in the state hijack it.
At the end of the interview, O’Reilly points out that he greatly supports the law. However, he insists that Escambia County School District is breaching that same law by removing his books.

O’Reilly did not stop there; he later posted on X to express his displeasure further. In the post, O’Reilly wrote, “A Florida county removes my books 📚 “Killing Jesus” and “Killing Reagan” from school libraries. Preposterous! We are investigating and are seeking comment from @GovRonDeSantis. This will not stand. Updates on http://BillOReilly.com”
Unfortunately, responses to O’Reilly’s X post were not very sympathetic. @MDomino07 wrote “BillOReilly.com supports book banning until it’s his book being banned. In @GovRonDeSantis FloriDUH where kids can read Mein Kampf but not the dictionary.”
