Insiders Say Biden Is Angry and Anxious About Reelection Efforts

Insiders claim that President Joe Biden has been privately seething to his staff over his disastrous polling numbers. They claim he is “angry and anxious” about his 2024 reelection efforts as his numbers dwindle. The story comes after Biden did not get the typical polling bump after his State of the Union address.

Following his SOTU address, Biden’s approval ratings now sit at a new low of 37.4 percent. However, reports of Biden’s rage date back to January 2024, when aides had told him his polling numbers had dipped. White House allies reportedly told Biden that his poll numbers in Michigan and Georgia had dropped due to his handling of Israel’s war on Hamas.

However, the President allegedly told the allies he believed he handled it well despite the political fallout. Notably, Biden won both states narrowly four years ago and can’t afford any backsliding to defeat Donald Trump. “He began to shout and swear,” an insider told NBC News in an interview.

“President Biden makes national security decisions based on the country’s national security needs alone,” White House spokesman Andrew Bates said. “No other factor.” However, allies claim Biden’s frustrations intensify as he questions travel choices.

The President is also frustrated at his inability to communicate his agenda to Americans. Biden’s weak approval rating is well below the last three presidents who failed to win a second term.

It is even lower than his presumptive November opponent, Donald Trump (48 percent). Biden, 81, is allegedly unhappy with the poll numbers and wants to antagonize Trump. For months, Democrats have watched the 2024 campaign unfold with rising alarm.

The plot thickens as the sitting President struggles to gain ground against his defeated predecessor. In addition, sources claim frustrations rippling through the party have reached the top with Biden second-guessing communications strategies.

Consequently, the electorates are clueless about his achievements and actions for the country. The starting gun for the general election campaign fired after Biden wrapped up the Democratic nomination. Yet, the President is still clueless about convincing voters he deserves a second term.

Biden has long believed he isn’t getting sufficient credit for an economy that has created 15 million new jobs. Hence, he told his speechwriters before his SOTU address to tone down lofty rhetorics. According to an insider familiar with speech preparation, Biden told writers to lay out what he had done.

However, history suggests it will be tough for him to recover. Biden’s 38% approval rating at this stage in the calendar is lower than that of the last three presidents. Notably, the three, Trump (48%), George H.W. Bush (39%) and Jimmy Carter (43%), lost their reelection bid.

Since his SOTU speech, Biden has traveled to Wisconsin, Michigan, Georgia, New Hampshire and Pennsylvania. However, insiders claim he wants to visit more states. “The president and his advisers have all been eager for him to be out there more,” an insider said. “As has been the norm for past incumbents seeking reelection.”

Despite the jitters and uncertainty, Biden aides see Trump as an eminently beatable and deeply flawed opponent. “We know he lost in 2020,” Jen O’Malley Dillion said. “In order to win, he’s got to expand his base of voters to find new people to be with him.”
