Popular Jacksonville rapper Charles Jones, otherwise known by his stage name “Julio Foolio,” has died. The Florida rapper was shot in the early hours of Sunday, June 23rd, 2024 — the same day he was turned 26. According to reports, Foolie was out celebrating with friends and loved ones at a Holiday Inn on East Fowler Avenue when he was shot.
The rapper was having a party at the venue but never made it in as he was shot in the parking lot. The Tampa Police Department has ruled the shooting a homicide. Though a lot of details about the shooting were initially unknown, new information have come out in the past few weeks. There is also surveillance video footage showing how the killing happened in the parking lot.
The video, which has now gone viral on social media, shows a man dressed in all black running towards Foolio’s car and opening fire immediately. Multiple shots were fired, and it is said that Foolio barely had time to react or defend himself. This tragic shooting left one dead and three others injured. Sadly, Foolio was pronounced dead at the scene due to his injuries.
Not long after, Lewis Fusco, Foolio’s attorney, confirmed the young rapper‘s death in an official statement. He also expressed his grief, saying that this was a tragic loss of a young and promising artist. Not only was Foolio a rising talent in Florida, but he was also a devoted father and son. When news of his passing hit social media, fans from all over the country expressed their shock and dismay at this sad loss.

His fellow rappers and artists also took to social media to pay their respects to the late rapper. They highlighted his impact on the Jacksonville rap scene and how he was dedicated to becoming a huge artist. Many believed that if his life had not been cut short, he would have been a big artist in the future.

He had loyal fans around Florida and also the entire country thanks to his raw lyrics and energetic performances that people loved. In his music, he often highlighted the struggles and harsh realities of street life and more than a few people could relate to this. Therefore, it is sad that he was killed so brutally on his birthday when he could have grown to become a bigger star in the future.

Police are currently carrying out their investigations and are urging anybody who may have any form of information to come forward and say something. This can help them catch the killer and prevent more deaths in the future.
The 26-year-old has reportedly been laid to rest after his family held a private funeral for him some days ago. His casket was embellished with words and pictures, and his family released a few white doves at the funeral ceremony.
