On Saturday, May 18, 2024, Republican Presidential Candidate Donald Trump attended the National Rifle Association’s annual meeting in Dallas, Texas. The former US President, who is currently facing a criminal trial, appeared to freeze for over 30 seconds during his speech.
According to reports, Trump kept the crowd waiting for over two hours before finally gracing the stage. After gracing the stage, Trump praised Texas for its approach to several issues, including immigration and reproductive rights. Furthermore, he praised the state for standing its ground despite the pushback from the Biden administration.
“Many came here with nothing but the boots or their feet, the clothes on their back, and the gun in their saddle,” Trump said. “Together, they helped make America into the single greatest nation in the history of the world.” The crowd of gun owners met Trump’s speech with enthusiasm.
However, the atmosphere changed when the former President suddenly fell silent for over 30 seconds. As the music played in the background, Trump remained frozen, only shaking his head during the lengthy pause. Afterward, supporters of President Joe Biden took to social media to condemn Trump.

Notably, Trump, 77, has always condemned Biden, 81, for his age. The Republican presidential candidate has frequently attacked Biden, arguing that the president was too old for the job. Furthermore, Trump and other Republican candidates have claimed that Biden is not mentally fit and is too old to be running for office.
However, Trump’s incident at the NRA meeting has also raised questions about Trump’s competency and mental fitness to run for office among Biden supporters. Over 30 seconds later, the former President resumed his speech. “But now we’re a nation in decline,” he said, noting the harsh economic climate in the country.

However, Biden supporters seized the moment, taking to X, formerly Twitter, to pounce on the Republican presidential candidate. A pro-Biden X account shared a clip of the moment. The account captured it, “Breaking: Donald Trump just glitched out and froze at his rally tonight.”
Furthermore, the account accused Trump of being “Senile” and “unfit for office,” urging viewers to share the clip. Other X users compared Trump’s clip to Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell’s viral moments, in which he froze.
However, Trump supporters shut down claims that he froze during his speech at the event. Supporters argued the former president was “listening” at the time. However, others claimed Trump shook his head in frustration because the teleprompter was faulty.

Others claimed he paused for effect while the music played on, which made him appear frozen. In another clip, Trump appears to grab the podium after almost tripping over. “A feeble Trump nearly falls down on stage,” the Biden-Harris HQ X account captioned.
As the November election draws nearer, supporters of Biden and Trump have been going at each other, now more than ever. Both candidates have been campaigning against each other’s political views, with Biden slamming Trump for his anti-abortion rights stance.
Similarly, Trump has also criticized Biden for his immigration policies, vowing to use military force against illegal migrants.
