Jimmy Kimmel fired back at Donald Trump on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, after the former president ranted at the talk show host earlier in the day. In his clapback, Kimmel noted that Trump got one word right in the post on Truth Social.

“Literally everything else is not just wrong, but maybe-we-should-be-worried-about-him wrong,” Kimmel said. “Like maybe-we-should-take-the-keys-away-from-grandpa wrong.” The drama between the two ensued after Trump took to his Truth Social platform to attack Kimmel again.

Notably, Jimmy Kimmel and Trump have been at each other’s throats for a joke the talk-show host made at the Oscars. Trump attacked Kimmel during the show, and Kimmel read the post live on the Oscars’ stage in March.

“Thank you, President Trump,” Kimmel said in an Oscars moment that instantly went viral. “Thank you for watching; I’m surprised you’re still [up]. Isn’t it past your jail time?”

Kimmel’s clapback at the awards event sent the media into a frenzy, sparking different reactions from social media users. Most importantly, the joke seems to have angered Trump because he has raged about it ever since.

In a post on Wednesday, Jimmy Kimmel also noted that Trump has been mad about the Oscars incident. “This man, who was our president, is on trial,” Kimmel said. “He has 34 criminal charges against him. He’s still mad about the Oscars!”

Furthermore, Kimmel noted that the event was five weeks ago. “The only person still talking about this joke is him. It really must’ve got to him.” Kimmel also played the clip again, with a look at all the celebs in the audience laughing at the former president.

While taking a jab at the former President, Kimmel also revealed the Oscars asked him to host again next year. Kimmel said he was planning to turn it down. However, he said he might take the gig after all. “Maybe you can watch on the TV in the rec room at Rikers with all the guys,” Kimmel fired at Trump.

From allegations of plotting to overturn a lost election to illegally storing classified documents at his Florida estate, former President Donald Trump faces four criminal indictments in four different cities. As he vies to reclaim the White House, things are not looking up for the presumptive Republican nominee.

The cases, totaling 91 felony counts, are winding through the courts at different speeds. Some might not reach trial this year, while one is at the preliminary stage with a complete jury selection. The hush-money case, which has undergone jury selection, made Trump the first former US president to face criminal charges.

A New York judge indicted him on state charges in March. The case stems from hush-money payments made during the 2016 presidential campaign. According to court documents, Trump made the payments to bury allegations of extramarital sexual encounters with an adult film star.

However, Trump has already pleaded not guilty to 34 felony counts of falsifying business records. Each count is punishable by up to four years in prison. However, it’s unclear if a judge would impose any prison time if the jury finds Trump guilty.
