A father from Oregon, Michael Meyden, 57, has been arrested on multiple charges. He is being accused of drugging his 12-year-old daughter’s friends by spiking their mango smoothies during a sleepover.
The incident occurred at Meyden’s £1 million home in Lake Oswego in August last year. The girls tested positive for Benzodiazepines in the hospital following the sleepover. Meyden was released on £40,000 bail last week.
One of the girls claimed that Meyden was “doing tests” to check if they were conscious during the sleepover while they pretended to sleep. The victim urgently texted a family friend, pleading for a ride home.
The girl stated that she felt unsafe around her friend’s father. She alleged that he coerced her and two other girls into consuming smoothies laced with benzodiazepine, a depressant that slows the nervous system.

“So I’m ‘sleeping,’ and her dad comes down and [I’m] hugging [one of the other girls] because she was scared, and he kept moving us away from each other but kept doing tests to make sure we weren’t awake,” the girl wrote in a text.
“Also, [the other girl] won’t wake up, and she did for like 2 seconds, but she kept her eyes closed and didn’t talk,” the girl added before the family friend agreed to pick her up from Meyden’s home.
The 57-year-old father, a graduate of Arizona State University and a human resources manager stands accused of drugging his daughter’s friends with spiked smoothies at his £1 million Lake Oswego home in August last year.
He previously resided in the home with his wife, Yukiko Ishida-Meyer, but she filed for divorce in October. His current address is listed as an RV park in Vancouver.

According to the affidavit, Meyden was described as “highly involved” in the sleepover, which included three girls joining his daughter for a “spa night” at his home on August 26.
He took them out to get their nails done and brought pizza for their dinner. However, before the girls went to bed, he is accused of preparing two mango smoothies for each of them, which he “insisted” they drink.
“Mr. Meyden specifically gave each of the girls specific colored reusable straws to distinguish their own drink,” states the probable cause affidavit. “Mr. Meyden was adamant that the girls drink out of their own cups.
One girl consumed both her smoothies, and another girl drank one glass, but the third mentioned she did not like the smoothies and barely drank any at all,” police reported. Additionally, one of the girls observed “tiny white chunks” in the drinks, and Meyden’s own daughter appeared to have consumed a significant amount.

Meyden has been charged with three felony counts of causing another person to ingest a controlled substance. He also faces three felony counts of applying a schedule IV-controlled substance to the body of a minor and three misdemeanor counts of delivering to a minor a schedule IV-controlled substance.
Meyden surrendered at the Clackamas County Jail on Tuesday. He pleaded not guilty at an arraignment hearing on Wednesday. Subsequently, he was released on a £40,000 bail.
