“Little Mermaid” star Halle Bailey has announced the birth of her child. The actress and songwriter gave birth to a healthy baby boy with American rapper DDG, whose real name is Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr. She took to her Instagram page to share the good news with her millions of followers and fans.
“Even though we’re a few days into the new year, the greatest thing that 2023 could have done for me, was bring me my son… welcome to the world my halo. The world is desperate to know you,” the 23-year-old singer and actor captioned her Instagram post. The picture showed her holding her baby’s hand. He wore a gold bracelet with his name ‘Halo’ engraved on it.
Bailey and DDG first sparked pregnancy suspicions back in September 2023. According to Page Six, the “Little Mermaid” and “Color Purple” star avoided the red carpet at the MTV Video Music Awards.
They said the star didn’t want to be photographed and was careful about hugging other celebrities. “When she was inside, she was very mindful in the way she gave hugs, and who she gave them to,” Page Six reported.

Also, Bailey ensured she kept her social media footprint to the barest minimum as she waited for her son’s arrival. She posted a Snapchat clip saying that some of her fans knew she was pregnant. “That’s great that you know, but I’m just gonna chill,” she said in the clip.
So, after avoiding the media and posting photos and videos that didn’t flaunt a baby bump, the singer-actress finally announced the birth of her son on January 6. The post confirmed what her fans already seemed to know.
Bailey’s boyfriend, DDG, also posted the same photo to announce the birth of his son. “My biggest blessing by far, son son.. Never been so in love. Baby halo,” he captioned the photo.

The couple welcomed their child over a year after officially becoming a couple in 2022. Their relationship hasn’t been the smoothest, but they both seem excited to be first-time parents. The pair started dating after exchanging a couple of private messages.
Fans suspected Baliey and DDG were dating in January 2022. That same year, they both appeared on the red carpet at the 2022 BET Awards. Since then, they’ve both made their relationship public, posting photos and videos on social media.

Furthermore, Halle Bailey finally gave her fans a closer look at her pregnancy journey and explained why she kept it private. According to her, she wanted to have a “beautiful, private, healthy time in my journey.” She also thanked her fans in a series of Snapchat Q&As for being patient and understanding her need “to wait to share something this sacred and beautiful.”
Earlier this week, Bailey posted a short clip of her maternity shoot on her Instagram account. The video showed that the star drew inspiration for the shoot from her recent films. In the clip, Bailey puts on two outfits with baby bumps and seams to pose underwater. It was her first post since she announced the birth of baby Halo.
