Unsurprisingly, Pierce Brosnan’s children have followed their parents into the entertainment industry. First, however, let’s check how they are faring.
It is without a doubt that Pierce Brosnan is one of the most handsome actors that has played the iconic role of James Bond. As a result, the Irish actor became a household name in the industry during the 1990s.
Pierce carried himself with effortless coolness and suave, required for an actor of his pedigree. He was also very popular among fans and stars in the movie industry and still is. Before his journey into fame, Pierce worked in the circus; thankfully, his fortunes changed.
However, his journey into marriage and family life started when he was only 24 years old in 1975. That year, Pierce met and fell in love with Australian actress Cassandra Harris. Speaking about how he fell in love, Pierce revealed he did not contemplate wooing Cassandra. Instead, he was focused on enjoying her beauty and loving her for who she was.
The duo got married in December 1980, and they welcomed their son Sean three years later in 1983. Around this time, Pierce adopted Cassandra’s children from her previous relationship, Charlotte and Christopher.
The kid’s father sadly died in 1986, and they assumed his last name after adopting them. So instead of being a father of one, Pierce suddenly had to care for three children.
His job became even more difficult, considering Charlotte and Christopher, both teenagers, were mourning their father. Then, sadly, tragedy struck the family again when Cassandra passed away in December 1991 at just 43.
However, after struggling with loss and being a single father of three for years, Pierce fell in love again when he met filmmaker Keely Shaye Smith. The duo got married, and the actor welcomed two more kids, Dylan, in 1997 and Paris, in 2001. Here’s everything you need to know about the actor’s kids.
Christopher Brosnan
Christopher is the eldest son of Pierce’s first wife, Cassandra Harris. He was born on November 11, 1972, to the actress and her husband, Dermot Harris. Cassandra and Dermot divorced in 1978; in 1986, the latter died of a heart attack.
Afterward, Pierce adopted Christopher, who also took the actor’s last name. Christopher, like his parents, entered the entertainment industry as an assistant director in many films. He worked on some of Pierce’s popular films like “GoldenEye,” “The World Is Not Enough,” and “Die Another Day.”
However, Christopher turned to a darker path after the death of his mother Cassandra from Ovarian cancer in 1991. The promising director lost himself to substance abuse, and Pierce, during an interview in 2005, had to address his son’s situation. The veteran stated:
“Christopher is still very lost. Shockingly so. I know where he is, but he’s having a hard life. I can only have strong faith and believe he will recover. He has tested everybody in this family, but none more so than himself. He knows how to get out. But, he doesn’t want to.”
Pierce even had to cut off Christopher after years of his addiction. Thankfully in 2019, the actor said they had reconnected, which indicated his son was getting over his addictions.
Charlotte Brosnan
Like Christopher, Charlotte is the daughter of Cassandra and Dermot. She was born on November 27, 1972, and like her mother, entered the movie industry to forge her path. Charlotte was an actress who starred in a couple of movies, including “The Nephew,” “The Disappearance of Kevin Johnson,” and also on an episode of “NYPD Blue.”
Tragically like her mother, Charlotte also got diagnosed with Ovarian cancer and sadly succumbed to sickness in 2013, dying at age 41. In his released statement, Piece stated that his daughter died On June 8, 2013, at 2 p.m. He noted:
“Charlotte fought her cancer with grace and humanity, courage and dignity. Our hearts are heavy with the loss of our beautiful dear girl. We pray for her and that the cure for this wretched disease will be close at hand soon. We thank everyone for their heartfelt condolences.”
At the time of her death, Charlotte was married to her husband, Alex Smith. The duo was also parents to two adorable children.
Sean Brosnan
Pierce’s first biological son and youngest child with Cassandra, Sean, was born on September 13, 1983. Like his elder siblings, he followed his parents into the entertainment business. Sean is an actor like his father and he has starred in projects like the mini-series “Generation Kill” and movies like “Alien Uprising” and “Acts of Violence.”
Like his elder brother Sean also had issues with addiction which started after he got injured in a car accident in 2000. However, unlike Christopher, Sean was able to turn his life around sooner. Pierce even once told a publication that his son was doing very well, studying for a degree in Psychology, and was planning to start a family. Pierce expressed:
Dylan Brosnan
Dylan is the first child of Pierce and his second wife, filmmaker Keely Shaye Smith. He was born on January 13, 1997. Dylan graduated from the USC School of Cinematic Arts in 2020 and is a singer in the group called “Raspberry Blonde.
The youngster is also an actor, and some of his acting work includes appearances in movies like “Out of Reach” and “Poisoning Paradise.” Speaking in 2021 during an Instagram Live Session, Pierce explained how Dylan would visit him on set. He also disclosed that as a child, he loved cars.
Pierce recalled a funny instance after an action sequence involving explosions on the set of “Die Another Day,” Dylan was more concerned about the state of the cars than that of his father.
Paris Brosnan
Paris is the youngest son of Pierce’s children. He was born on February 27, 2001, to the actor and his second wife, Keeley. Now a teenager, Paris is a big figure in the modeling industry, and the youngster has walked for brands like “Dolce and Gabbana.”
In 2019, Paris spoke to Hollywood Life Magazine at the Clarins and The Malibu Foundation’s RePlant Love event. The youngster explained:
“I am thankful for this creative outlet and the opportunity to be surrounded by inspirational designers and artists. My family inspires me. Both of my parents work in the entertainment industry and are passionate environmentalists.”
The teenage model also touched on his passion for combating climate change. Paris encouraged that the only way people can make an impact is to pick a precise cause they believe in that can add to their individual lives and values.
