From outspoken Republican Congresswoman, Lauren Boebart to Ben Stiller, social media was full of commentaries about the 2025 Super Bowl halftime show. Here are the various reactions of entertainment and political figures.
Jamie Foxx
Musician and actor Jamie Foxx’s reaction to Lamar’s performance was captured in a video. The musician hosted a Super Bowl party in his home. He also filmed it showing his entire family singing and dancing along to the performance.
Ben Stiller
For actor and comedian Ben Stiller, the show was splendid. “Best halftime show ever,” he wrote on social media platform X. He also responded to a user who questioned his claim. The user commented that they didn’t think the performance came close to Michael Jackson’s or Beyonce’s. But Stiller insisted that “it did.”

Magic Johnson
Basketball legend Magic Johnson was also full of praise for the performance. “Kendrick Lamar brought the house down tonight in his halftime performance!” he posted on his X account. “I love his song selection and the production was amazing,” the post also stated.
Alexis Ohanian
People were eager to know what Serena Williams’ husband thought about the show. Alexis Ohanian seemed pleased with it and his wife’s involvement. He described it as “pretty fantastic” via his X account.
Lauren Boebart
Social media users were also eager to see what Republican lawmaker Lauren Boebart thought. What Are People Saying About the 2025 Super Bowl Halftime Performance?
Entertainment buffs were full of anticipation for the show after Lamar was announced as the headline artist. The Compton, California-born hip hop star fulfilled some expectations as he performed his rave-of-the-moment track “Not Like Us,” which was a diss at fellow rapper Drake.
The track recently swept a whopping 5 victories at the Grammy Awards. Hence, it became one of the most decorated songs in Grammy Award history. His performance also delivered some surprises with cameo appearances from tennis star Serena Williams and American singer and songwriter, SZA.
Serena Williams’ appearance generated a great deal of controversy. The record Grand Slam winner came on the stage while Lamar was performing the diss track, “Not Like Us.” Most commentators believed it was her way of getting back at Drake who she once dated.
The sportswoman received knocks from social media users for pulling what they believed was a “petty move.” Many of the angry commentators could also be Drake fans.
The tennis player generated backlash after she posted about her performance on X shortly after the show.
“Imagine being a world-renowned tennis superstar and relegating yourself to a ‘crip-walking’ cameo during a horrible halftime show to ‘get back’ at your rapper ex-boyfriend. How pathetic,” one user stated. “You should have sat your **s home Serena Drake really means that much to you?” another wondered.

What Artist Turned Down the Super Bowl Halftime Show?
As prestigious as it is, some artists have turned down the opportunity to headline the Super Bowl. Two of the famous celebrities who have declined the offer are British singer Adele and American hip-hop star Jay-Z.
During an August 2016 concert, Adele disclosed that she was invited to perform at the 2017 Super Bowl Halftime show. She disclosed why she turned it down. “That show is not about music … I can’t dance or anything like that. They were very kind, they did ask me, but I said no,” she revealed.
Rapper Jay-Z made a similar revelation in 2020. During an interview with the New York Times, he disclosed that he had once declined the offer to perform at a Super Bowl halftime show.
He stated that the organizers extended the invitation on the condition that he must feature fellow rapper Kanye West and singer Rihanna. “That’s not how you go about it, telling someone that they’re going to do the halftime show contingent on who they bring. I said forget it. It was a principle thing,” he stated.
