A New York City apartment that has no bathroom or kitchen is up for grabs for $1,200 per month. The now-viral video of the “insanely tiny” apartment has sparked outrage on social media. Viewers are outraged over the exorbitant rent; some likened it to a prison cell.
However, others suggested it should be illegal. The video went viral after real estate agent Omer Labock gave his 136,000 TikTok followers a tour of the tiny apartment in Manhattan. “The tiniest apartment in Manhattan can be found in this building,” Labock said on the tour.
“So let’s check this out; it’s really nuts.” In the viral clip, he showed off the narrow one-bedroom unit with no bathroom or kitchen and just a closet. He then humorously touched both ends of the unit simultaneously, depicting the compact size of the space.
“I’m not the biggest dude, but I can almost touch both sides here,” he said. “I think we can consider this the absolute smallest apartment in Manhattan, and the total rent is $1,200 a month.” Upon opening the door to the third-floor walk-up, Labock revealed a small, bare room with a stand-alone wardrobe.

Afterward, he faced his camera toward the panel window in the apartment unit, which opened up to a fire escape. “I cannot make this stuff up; this is everything,” he said. “No bathroom, no kitchen. All you have is this closet to my left here.”
Labock opened the white closet door to reveal a clothing rack and a small mirror attached to the dresser. “I’m gonna show you guys where the bathroom is,” Labock continued. “Because I’m sure you’re wondering where the bathroom is in this apartment.”
Then, he exited the unit and walked down the hallway before showing the bathroom door. Inside the tiled bathroom was a toilet, a sink, and a bathtub with a shower head and curtain. “For $1,200 a month, you can live in what’s basically a bedroom,” Labock said as he concluded the tour.

However, he asked viewers in his caption, “Would you live here?” The real estate agent anticipated the video would spark outrage and wrote, “Can’t wait for the comments.” As expected, viewers flooded his comments section. Many called out the apartment’s “nightmare” amenities and jaw-dropping price.
In addition, thousands of viewers expressed concern that such a small apartment was over $1,000 monthly. Similarly, others wondered how the space would be livable without a bathroom or kitchen. On the other hand, others simply stated that they wouldn’t pay even less for the unit.
One user wrote in the comments, “This should be illegal. What bed is going in here? Why is it $1200? This is depressing.” Another comment said, “Isn’t that illegal? There are chickens on free-range farms with more room than this.” Similarly, another user wrote, “Prison cells are bigger than this!”

“My guy, that’s half a dorm room,” a user jokingly wrote. Another joked, “Calling 911 as we speak.” Also, another commented, “Where I live, this is considered a storage unit for $80 a month.”
This video isn’t the first time an apartment in Manhattan has sparked controversy online. Apartment tours often go viral online when users reveal how much they pay for such small-sized apartments. However, according to a comment on the post, this is absurd.
