A Vermont resident has shed light on the alarming surge in northern border crossings, revealing how trail cameras at her property captured migrants trudging through the snow “every week.” Kirsty Brow, residing near the Swanton Sector, shared her unsettling experiences amid a growing influx of migrants entering the United States through the northern border.
Brow recounted discovering clothing and personal belongings in the fields near her Highgate home, emphasizing the sense of unease and insecurity prevailing in the area. Located along a strip border spanning portions of New York, New Hampshire, and Vermont, Brow’s community has become a problematic hotspot for undocumented crossings.
“It’s scary to know that you never know what lurks in your woods. We never know what we will find out back in our field,” Brow told Fox News, highlighting the unpredictability and dangers of unauthorized entries.
Crossings along the Canadian border have surged by a staggering 241 percent since 2022, with local officers reporting a substantial increase in apprehensions compared to previous fiscal years. Brow’s observations align with the growing trend of migrants traversing challenging terrain to enter the United States.

Despite efforts by law enforcement to monitor and address the situation, Brow revealed that sightings of migrants occur frequently in her vicinity. She recounted instances captured on trail cameras, where groups of individuals navigate the landscape, often attempting to evade detection.
“We did have video footage on our trail cam of three people coming across. The guy in the front saw our flash go off, so he motioned to the other guys to stay still. Once he felt it was safe, he motioned for them to continue, and they just continued on their way,” Brow disclosed, underscoring the covert nature of these crossings.

While Brow and her neighbors remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to border patrol, concerns linger about the migrants’ intentions and the potential risks posed to the community. Chief Patrol Agent Robert Garcia confirmed heightened border activity, with apprehensions surpassing previous years’ totals.
“Since October 1, 2023, Swanton Sector Border Patrol Agents have apprehended more than 3,100 subjects from 55 countries, more than Fiscal Years 2022, 21, 20 & 19 combined,” Garcia stated, illustrating the magnitude of the current situation.
