Last Thursday, during a minor league hockey game in Cleveland, a heart-stopping moment happened when a hockey puck was spinning directly towards a four-year-old, Nasir Davis.
His mother, Asia Davis, spoke on Tik Tok about how that incident was quite frightening for her, saying, “This puck comes out of heaven, straight toward my son’s head.” Thankfully, a quick-thinking individual intervened just in time to prevent a potential tragedy.
Hockey pucks are not toys to be played with. They are instruments of sports. They’re heavier than baseballs and can cause serious harm, sometimes fatal, upon being hit with a certain speed. Just last year, an 11-year-old boy from Canada died after being struck in the throat with a puck during hockey practice.
Davis emphasized how much harm it would have caused her son and acknowledged the stranger’s very courageous act. Her comment was, “If you know anything about a hockey puck, it’s more dense than a baseball. This dude literally saved my son’s life.”

In the digital age, Davis turned to social media to track down the unknown hero. Her TikTok went viral, and followers jumped on the trent to find this here and they did. His name is Andrew Podolak.
Podolak said he could remember the moment he saw the puck hurtling towards Nasir, recalling that, “It was coming up over the glass, and I just saw it was wobbling and whatnot,” he said.
“I was like, ‘Oh God.’ The first thing I gotta do, first instinct, is protect the kid, jump in front of it,” Podolak said to WOIO.

In a split-second decision, he instinctively shielded the child with his arm, deflecting the puck just in time. The very touching story caught the attention of the Cleveland Monsters, who also wanted to thank Podolak by inviting him, Davis, and Nasir to a game.
At the reunion there was a lot of gratitude and emotions, with Davis expressing her profound appreciation to Podolak for his selfless act.
“You’re a really special person, and I just hope that you never go a day in your life without knowing that,” Davis told Podolak in an interview with NBC News.
The reunion between Davis, Nasir, and Podolak was a witness to the fact that kind people still exist in the world today and kindness can form bonds in moments of crisis.
