Whether you are continuing old traditions or finding new ones, these films reflect the pinnacle of Christmas pleasure.

Home Alone (1990)

Is it really the holiday season if you have not seen “Home Alone?” The film is essentially what happens when you give a smart-mouthed kid complete control over a property and add in some hilariously awful robbers for good measure.

Macaulay Culkin definitely nails it as Kevin; let us be honest, no one else could have pulled off the classic hands-on-cheeks screams quite like him. The big pranks are not the only thing that keeps this movie popular year after year. It’s how it captures the childish vision of being completely independent while yet reminding us that family is somewhat irreplaceable.

Elf (2003)

Let us talk about “Elf,” one of the best Christmas movies featuring Will Ferrell as an enormous elf that resembles a human golden retriever dressed in green. The entire scenario is ludicrous in the greatest manner conceivable.

Buddy’s a walking, talking shot of pure Christmas delight who is dumped in New York City, and seeing him discover things we take for granted is pure gold. How did he react to a “World’s Best Coffee” sign? Iconic. The guy treats every commonplace item as if it were the most incredible discovery ever, and honestly? It’s quite infectious.

How the Grinch Stole Christmas (1966)

Nothing against Jim Carey, but the OG exists for a reason. The entire narrative revolves around this character, who is basically the ultimate holiday hater. He performed a complete 180 after witnessing how the Whos don’t need all of the presents and decorations to get into the Christmas spirit.

This rendition is unique in that it retains everything of the classic Dr. Seuss strangeness, including the curly buildings, unusual instruments, and wild Who hairstyles. It is a fantastic reminder that even the most grumpy people may benefit from a little compassion and, perhaps, an invitation to supper.

The Polar Express (2004)

“The Polar Express” is a film adaptation of all those wild Christmas Eve fantasies you had as a child. The animation has an uncanny valley quality to it, but it works wonderfully for a story about the strange, beautiful sensation you get on Christmas Eve.

It is one of those Christmas films that makes you want to believe in magic again, even if you’re an adult who pays taxes.

The Muppet Christmas Carol (1992)

This version of “A Christmas Carol” hits both the old and the young. It is one of the feel-good Christmas movies you should watch with friends and family this holiday season.

The Christmas Chronicles (2018)

This modern adventure makes the audience feel both fresh and traditional. It is one of the Christmas movies puts a new perspective on the Santa Claus tale. It combines imagination, comedy, and drama to keep both youngsters and adults glued to their seats.

Kurt Russell’s performance as Santa Claus is both festive and cool. It provides a lovely additional depth to the character.

Klaus (2019)

Yet another animated treasure. What is the coolest thing about “Klaus?” It completely flips the script on the whole Santa origin narrative, and it does so with stunning animation that will leave you speechless.

If you are weary of the same old Christmas movies but want that familiar vibe, “Klaus” is your guy. It strikes the right balance between being completely new and feeling like a classic you have always known about.

Rise of the Guardians (2012)

“Rise of the Guardians” is not your average Christmas film. It has a fantastic take on Santa that you never realized you needed. We are discussing tattoos, swords, and a Russian accent!

This film also combines all of these childhood icons: the Easter Bunny has this tough-guy Australian persona, the Tooth Fairy runs a large collection operation, and the Sandman is basically vibing and throwing dream-sand around. It is like the “Avengers,” but with childish magic!

Love Actually (2003)

Featuring an ensemble cast of several gorgeous people and plots dealing with various challenges in love and relationships, the film delves into subjects ranging from teenage infatuation to long-term marriages.

This film does an excellent job of blending comedy, romance, and touching moments. “Love Actually” depicts the complexity of human relationships against the backdrop of Christmas.

White Christmas (1954)

If you want the ultimate old-school Christmas vibe, “White Christmas” is the way to go. It is a beautiful story of soldiers wanting to aid their former Army leader by putting on a spectacular Christmas show at his struggling inn. Even if you are not generally into the retro movie scene, something about this one simply feels right.
