A former Tennessee teacher arrested in September 2023 for allegedly sexually assaulting a 12-year-old boy is facing multiple charges. According to police reports, she faces a 23-count indictment for sexual misconduct against nearly two dozen other potential minor victims.
Police arrested Alissa McCommon, a 38-year-old former elementary school teacher, on September 8, 2023. According to documents, authorities charged her with rape of a child after the arrest. Following the recent charges, the police department released a statement on March 8, 2024.
“Our goal in any of these investigations is to identify any potential victims and provide medical assistance, counseling, and support for their families throughout the investigation,” Covington Police Chief Donna Turner said. “Without this vital intervention, the ripple effect of trauma can last for years with the victims and the family unit.”
According to the Covington Police Department, a Tipton County grand jury handed down a 23-count indictment against McCommon on March 5, 2024. The department noted in the press release that the indictment came “with multiple sexual misconduct offenses against minors.”

Furthermore, the press release revealed that the Covington Police Department Criminal Investigations Division worked with various other agencies. They worked with the County Sheriff’s Office and District Attorney’s Office to identify 21 “potential victims” during their criminal investigation.
“Detectives worked closely with the 25th Judicial District Attorney’s Office prosecutors,” the police report said. “To present evidence in the investigation involving five (5) victims of offenses with substantiating evidence resulting in twenty-three (23) separate counts.”
The police department added, “The victims’ ages ranged from 12 to 17 years of age.” According to sources, new charges filed against McCommon include rape of a child and five counts of aggravated statutory rape. They include four counts of sexual exploitation and four counts of solicitation of a minor to commit aggravated statutory rape.

According to reports, the charges also include two counts of statutory rape by an authority figure. Moreover, they include two counts of coercion of a witness and two counts of aggravated stalking. Lastly, the charges include violation of the Child Protective Act, tampering with evidence, and harassment.
However, the former teacher pleaded not guilty on Monday, March 11, 2024, according to WREG. “We anticipated that the indictment would be coming,” Lauren Fuchs, a defense attorney for McCommon, told Fox News Digital. She added that her team received discovery in court on Monday.
According to the Covington Police, the Tennessee teacher contacted former students online, engaging in inappropriate communication. The first victim who spoke up about McCommon’s alleged abuse, a boy who’s now 15, revealed harrowing details about her.

The boy told police that while spending the night at her residence in 2021, he awoke to McCommon sexually assaulting him. After her arrest on a child rape charge in 2023, the court released McCommon on a $250,000 bond. However, police arrested her again and charged her with coercing, harassing, and stalking the victim.
The former teacher allegedly purchased a phone at Walmart after her initial arrest to contact the victim. Also, she suggested in phone calls played aloud in court that she may be pregnant with the boy’s child. “I’m going to raise this baby. I can do this,” McCommon repeats in the recording, according to FOX 13 Memphis.
