Influencer Eva Evans, who became a social media star thanks to her advice about New York, died at the age of 29.
Evans attracted more than 300,000 followers and 13.6 million likes on TikTok thanks to “honest reviews” on everything from makeup to restaurants to sharing candid glimpses into her life in the big city. She also starred in her comedy series, Club Rat, released on Amazon Prime last year.
The streaming site summarizes the five-part series as the story of a “self-absorbed influencer [who] attempts to re-enter the chaotic New York City dating scene after a candid video of her humiliating breakup goes viral.”
News of Evans’ shocking death emerged on Sunday when his sister, artist Lila Joy, shared the news on Instagram.

“Yesterday, my family learned that Eva, our beautiful, wonderful, creative, thoughtful, and funny sister, passed away,” Lila wrote.
“After 24 hours, I still find myself in a constant cycle of denial and acceptance, so I know how difficult and unbelievable this news will be.”
She continued: “I wish I could mention Eva here now because she would have better words and know how to say things I don’t.

Lila urged her readers to “share this message so it can reach everyone who needs it” and said she and her family will host an “Eva celebration” in lower Manhattan on Tuesday night (April 23).
She ended her message: “I’ll keep this short so we can plan the next few days, but you’ll hear more about what Eva means to me and the world How different will it be without her?”
Her statement was met with an outpouring of gratitude and condolences from Evans’ fans and well wishes.

Another wrote: “I followed your sister on TikTok at a time when social media was my only escape from the horrors of the world.
“She truly is a beacon of light, and in a way, I feel indebted to her for that. She will always be loved and missed.” No cause of death has been confirmed.
