Far-righters have spun yet another conspiracy theory. This time, the story has roped in a leading entertainment figure. Recent claims of Taylor Swift being a psychology operation (Psy-Op) by the Biden administration have spread across the internet. But this time, it didn’t originate on social media.
Fox News Jesse Watters covered the story in a recent broadcast, stating that Taylor Swift’s selection as Time Magazine’s Person of the Year was another step in the widely circulating psychological operation. In the broadcast, Jesse aired a clip of data engineer Alicia Marie Bargar sharing how “social influence can help encourage or promote behavior change.”
In the clip that the anchor took from a conference that was held over four years ago, Alicia used Taylor Swift as an example of how a fairly influential person could significantly affect or sway public opinion.
According to Watters, primetime might not have concrete evidence of the Taylor Swift psy-op, but there are several pointers to this conclusion. One of them is the pop star’s romantic relationship with Kansas City Chiefs Star Travis Kelce and its positive effect on NFL ratings.

It doesn’t help that MAGA sympathizers and influencers consider Travis Kelce a villain. This suspicion arose after Kelce’s appearance in Pfizer’s Covid and Flu vaccine promotional advert.
Many MAGA types are now promoting the theory that the duo’s relationship is staged. But for what? The sole purpose of having Swift endorse the Biden administration at the Super Bowl.
In an interview with Business Insider, Barger revealed that the clip used by Watters was taken out of context and twisted to fit his narrative. She said that comment was lifted from the NATO-organized 2019 International Conference on Cyber Conflict.

In her own words, “Swift was an incidental example of a famous person to explain a social networks analysis concept to the audience.” She added that she had simply employed an academic approach that made theoretical concepts easier to understand.
In response to the flying accusations and theories, Pentagon’s spokesperson, Sabrina Singh, vehemently denied the accusations. The image maker declared emphatically that Taylor Swift is not part of any Department of Defense operation.
Several other officials in the Pentagon found the idea ludicrous and downright laughable — one in particular couldn’t stop laughing throughout the interview. An anonymous senior administration official commented, “The absurdity of it all boggles my mind. It feels like one of those ‘tell me you’re a MAGA conspiracy theorist without telling me you are a MAGA conspiracy theorist’ memes.”
Rather than spend too much time refuting an already ridiculous claim, Singh seized the opportunity to make an appeal. The spokesperson again entreated Congress to pass the much-delayed Pentagon budget and emergency supplemental request.

In the conversation with POLITICO, Singh said, “I’m sure she has other chief priorities, as do we, which is why we continue to urge Congress to complete the passage of a budget and our supplemental request.” The passage will help the department “move the ball downfield and across the goal line in support of crucial national security priorities.”
MSNBC’s Morning Joe hosts further belittled the theory. He stated that MAGA influencers like Watters used the Taylor Swift and Kelce saga to cover up more critical issues. One of which is the Trump Lawsuits, for which they do not have plausible explanations.
