Nikki Haley, former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations and a prominent figure in the Republican Party, openly criticized former President Donald Trump. She suggested that his actions are so extreme that they make President Joe Biden appear “sane” when compared.

Haley’s recent appearance on Fox News’ America’s Newsroom explained her critique of Trump’s remarks regarding the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). During the interview, she said that Trump’s comments deviated from prepared remarks. She emphasized that his tendency to go “off script” and move away from teleprompter guidance contributed to his statement’s controversy.

“That’s what you’re gonna get, is unhinged chaos,” Haley said. “And that only makes Joe Biden sound…sane.” When you get Donald Trump making Joe Biden sound sane, it’s more of the reason why Donald Trump can’t defeat Joe Biden. They’re taking everything he’s saying and going to use it against him,” she added.

Trump gave a speech in South Carolina, where he addressed NATO funding and Russia’s conflict with Ukraine. During his speech, he referenced conversations with an unnamed world leader, described as “one of the presidents of a big country.” He said the leader expressed concerns about whether the United States would defend NATO if Russia were to attack.

“I said, ‘You didn’t pay, you’re delinquent? I would encourage them to do whatever the hell they want. You got to pay. You got to pay your bill,” Trump told the crowd. Nikki Haley concurred with Donald Trump’s stance that NATO countries should contribute more to defense spending.

However, she cautioned that Trump’s remarks could endanger military members. She stressed that NATO members should increase their financial commitments but shouldn’t compromise the safety of servicemen and women.

She stated, “Russia has never invaded a NATO country. That alliance is rock solid; it’s a success story for 75 years. We want them to pay more; we should do that, but the last thing you do is side with a guy who kills his opponents.” Haley wasn’t the only political force that responded to Trump’s comment.

NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said, “Any attack on NATO will be met with a united and forceful response. Any suggestion that allies will not defend each other undermines all of our security, including that of the U.S., and puts American and European soldiers at increased risk. Regardless of who wins the presidential election, I expect the U.S. will remain a strong and committed NATO ally.”

The rivalry between Haley and Trump continues to intensify as they prepare to compete in the upcoming South Carolina primary election. With both vying for the support of GOP voters, Haley hopes to secure more votes in her home state.

Haley, who served as governor of South Carolina from 2011 to 2017, is banking on her track record of leadership to win over voters. However, Trump’s influence within the GOP is a formidable threat to Haley’s ambitions.

Despite facing criticism and controversy during his presidency, Trump has a devoted base of supporters who remain fiercely loyal to him. His continued dominance in Republican politics makes it difficult for Haley to gain support.
