Bridget Ziegler has come under fire for her involvement in a same-sex scandal. Consequently, the co-founder of the anti-LGBTQ+ extremist group, Moms for Liberty,  resigned from her most recent position. Since August 2022, she has served as the School Board Leadership Program director at the Leadership Institute.

However, in a statement, Moms for Liberty’s co-founders distanced themselves from Ziegler. Their statement came after a woman with whom she and her husband, Christian Ziegler, had a three-way sexual relationship, accused him of sexual assault.

In the wake of rape allegations against her husband, and the same-sex scandal, she stepped down from her position. Consequently, the website no longer lists Ziegler in the role, and they named someone new to take her place. In addition, she is facing calls from the Sarasota School Board asking her to resign.

Tina Descovich, Tiffany Justice, and Bridget Ziegler founded Moms for Liberty in January 2021. However, Moms for Liberty is now a conservative education activist group. The group has over 120,000 members and almost 300 chapters across 44 states.

After the scandal became public, the co-founders, Descovich and Justice, issued a joint statement. They reiterated that Ziegler resigned from the organization within the same month of its incorporation. “We are laser-focused on fundamental parental rights,” the two said in a joint statement. “And that mission is and always will be bigger than anyone.”

In addition, the statement emphasized the nature of the allegations against Christian Ziegler. It also said they will take any allegation of sexual assault seriously and thoroughly investigate. Although local activist groups prepared to call for Ziegler’s resignation at an upcoming Sarasota School Board meeting, the statement calmed the activists.

Similarly, the Florida GOP appears to be working to expel or censure Bridget Ziegler’s husband, Christian. According to reports, the party wants to remove him from his role as chairman of the state’s Republican party.

Consequently, Gov. Ron DeSantis has called on Christian to resign. However, he refused, maintaining that the rape allegations against him were false. According to investigators, the woman who accused Christian of rape alleged she and both of the Zieglers had planned a sexual encounter for October 2.

However, when Bridget Ziegler was no longer available, she canceled, saying, “I was mostly in for her.” She added that she saw Christian waiting in the hallway outside her apartment when she wanted to walk her dog.

In addition, she said Christian entered her house and sexually assaulted her. However, while Christian admitted they had sex in her apartment, he claims it was consensual. Also, Bridget Ziegler admitted to detectives that she, her husband, and her husband’s accuser had a consensual sexual encounter.

Consequently, Florida GOP Vice Chair Evan Power has called a special party meeting to discuss Christian’s case. Although the party constitution requires only half, 33 of 40 executive committee members agreed to hold the meeting. However, due to several rules and regulations, deciding Christian’s fate could take at least 30 days.

In an email to the party when the allegations became public, Christian said he would not leave voluntarily. He added that he would not let “false allegations” put his mission of saving a country on the bench.

As the Florida GOP battles the internal crisis, Moms for Liberty faces internal chaos. Following the allegations against Bridget Ziegler, a Pennsylvania chapter split from the national organization. According to Clarissa Paige, chair of the Northumberland County chapter, more chapters are likely to defect from the national body.
