In a recent interview, the former FLOTUS, Michelle Obama shared her take on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey.
As the matriarch of one of the most prominent families in the world, former first lady, Michelle Obama knows the importance of family in one’s journey through life.
Harnessing her immense knowledge, she finally shared her opinion about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s interview with Oprah Winfrey.
The Duke and Duchess made some shocking revelations during their tell-all with Winfrey, including Markle’s struggle with mental health and the royal family’s inhumane reaction to it. Additionally, the Sussexes dished on some seemingly racist behaviors by the royals, including concerns about her son, Archie’s skin color.
Her overall experience made Markle feel silenced during her time as a senior working royal, she admitted to Winfrey. Reacting to the disturbing revelations about the royal family’s treatment of Markle and Harry, Obama noted:
“When I think about what they’re going through, I think about the importance of family. And I just pray that there is forgiveness and there is clarity and love and resolve at some point.”
The 57-year-old went further to establish that there was nothing more important than family. The former FLOTUS voiced her take on the royal feud during an interview to discuss her Netflix series, “Waffles + Mochi.”
During the interview, Obama also discussed the importance of the new Netflix children series in bringing up exemplary kids.
The cooking series, in collaboration with Partnership for a Healthier America, aims to promote her advocacy for healthy eating, combating childhood obesity, and helping the needy amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Going further, the star praised her husband, Barack Obama’s fathering prowess. When asked what advice she would give her 10-year-old self today, the “Becoming” author divulged she would tell her young-self she was good enough, smart enough, and capable of doing anything she wanted. She added:
“Sometimes when you’re young you wonder whether you can do these important things. And you get a little nervous and worried about what other people think. But as you get older, you realize you are enough just the way you are.”
Michelle Obama is not the only prominent figure who has expressed opinions about Harry and Meghan’s Oprah Winfrey Interview. Last week, press secretary Jenn Psaki commended the duchess for her courage in sharing her mental health struggles.
The royal family also released a statement on behalf of the monarch, addressing the Sussexes’ sad revelations. Via the statement signed by Buckingham palace, the family expressed their sadness over leaning about Markle and Harry’s challenges in the last few years.
They also promised to privately address the “concerning” issues raised, especially those about race. The statement reassured the world that the Duke and Duchess, as well as their son, Prince Archie would always be loved by the royal family.
As things become more heated between the Sussexes and the rest of the royals, one can only watch with fingers crossed as the last of the drama unfolds. Hopefully, they would grab some takeouts from Michelle Obama’s priceless advice on family.
