Kate Beckinsale and Matt Rife got a little too friendly with each other at the Golden Globes after-party, resulting in claims that the former couple had kissed at the event, which was held at Spago Beverly Hills on Sunday, January 5.
According to her rep, the actress and Rife, who also just happens to be someone Beckinsale used to be comfortable with locking lips with them being exes and all, did not lock lips at the after party.
“It is incorrect that they were kissing,” the rep told PEOPLE exclusively while addressing a report that the former couple had kissed on Sunday. “They are friendly exes who were having a fun time speaking,” the rep further added.

Kate Beckinsale and Matt Rife briefly dated in late 2017. The relationship reportedly lasted for a whole year before it ran its course, and they parted ways. Though short, Kate Beckinsale and Matt Rife’s relationship was widely publicized because of their age difference. She was previously married to Len Wiseman from 2004 to 2019, while Rife was last romantically linked to Jessica Lord.

After the 82nd annual Golden Globes in Los Angeles, the British actress attended the Netflix after-party, soaking up the good vibes with her “Click” costar Adam Sandler, actor Kevin Miles, and Rife. Rife walked the red carpet of the Globes ceremony, later reconnecting with show host Nikki Glaser at the official after-party at Circa 55.

Eyewitness accounts are also mixed. One insider reportedly shared, “They were kissing and being affectionate with one another. Her arms were around his neck. And his arms and hands were around her waist… They were very close, and then I saw them kiss a couple of times.”
While some are convinced something happened between the former couple at the party, others claim they were simply being amicable. At any rate, the party is over, and the pair have both returned to their lives, which comfortably does not involve each other.
Beckinsale has been busy. She most recently appeared in the 2024 movie “Canary Black,” and she has a couple of upcoming projects, including thrillers “Stolen Girl” and “The Patient.” The talented actress made her red carpet return last May following a “rough year” of health issues, which she later clarified on social media saw her dealing with “a hole” in her esophagus.
Rife has also kept busy; he was featured in movies like 2024’s “Beyond the Likes” and “Trapped Inn.” He will next appear in the movies “I Live Here Now” and “Candy Flip,”
