“Dynasty” is a soap opera that follows the trials and tribulations of two oil rich feuding families in Denver, Colorado. It’s not difficult to see why fans loved it. It is a timeless and classic soap opera filled with a deluge of drama, a great cast and amazing ’80s glamor shots. The series ended in 1989 but the lives of the cast did not. Joan Collins portrayed Blake Carrington’s cunning ex-wife, Alexis Carrington Colby — and later Alexis Morrell Carrington Colby Dexter Rowan. Her presence shook up the second season of Dynasty, giving it that extra spice it needed to become a success. After the show ended in 1989, Collins continued to work steadily as an actress and also picked up writing, eventually establishing herself as a successful author. She recently guest starred on “The Royals” as The Grand Duchess Alexandra of Oxford. Currently, Collins has been linked to “In Bed with the Duchess,” where she portrays the historical figure Wallis Simpson. Simpson was the wife of King Edward VIII, who abdicated his throne due to the controversy their relationship caused.

Linda Evans was Blake Carrington’s secretary-turned-wife, Krystle Carrington. She was nominated for Best Actress in a TV Drama for the Golden Globes five times, and she won in 1982 in a tie with Barbara Bel Geddes, who starred in “Dallas.” After Dynasty ended, Evans continued acting, appearing in a few TV movies. However, she hasn’t featured in any shows or movies since 1997. Evans stays lowkey for the most part, only showing up for important events like the Heart Truth’s Red Dress Collection fashion show she attended in 2012. Her last film was “Swan Song,” which was released in 2021.

Pamela Sue Martin played Fallon Carrington Colby, the eldest daughter of Blake and Alexis, between 1981 and 1984 before she left the show after the fourth season. She was replaced by Emma Samms. Martin has appeared in a few TV shows since then, but none has recaptured the popularity of that series. The last acting job Martin had was in 2019 when she appeared in the pilot episode of “Nancy Drew.”

Al Corley was Steven Carrington, Alexis and Blake’s third son in the first two seasons of the show, but was reportedly dismissed for publicly bad-mouthing the series. His role was recast, and they explained Steven’s changed appearance by saying he had plastic surgery. Corley reprised his role in the 1991 TV movie “Dynasty: The Reunion.” He has continued to act steadily since then but has not been cast in another role quite as noteworthy as Steven Carrington. Corley also sings and is a producer with a hit single from 1984 called “Square Rooms.”

Heather Locklear portrayed Sammy Jo Dean Carrington, the niece of Krystle Carrington, as they kicked off the second season of “Dynasty.” Her character married Steven Carrington, despite his contested sexuality, and was a constant in the show until its last season. Locklear went on to have a wildly successful acting career with starring roles on shows including “Melrose Place,” “TJ Hooker,” and “Franklin and Bash.”

Catherine Oxenberg was cast on “Dynasty” as Amanda Bedford Carrington — the secret daughter of Alexis and Blake — from 1984 to 1986 before the role was recast. Oxenberg won two Soap Opera Digest Awards for her role in the show. From there, she went on to make guest appearances on several shows, including “Baywatch,” and starred in numerous made-for-TV movies. In 2023, Oxenberg revealed that she was engaged to businessman Ellis Jones.

John James played Jeff Colby, a member of the Carrington’s rival family. His character marries Fallon Carrington despite the fact that her mother is his stepmother. After “Dynasty,” James was cast in several other soaps, including “All My Children” and “As The World Turns.” In 2014, James considered a political career but has since returned to acting.

Pamela Bellwood was cast as Claudia Barrows Blaisdel Carrington, the frequent mental institution patient, friend of Krystle Carrington, and eventual wife of Steven Carrington from 1981 until 1986. After her stint with “Dynasty” ended, she went on to guest star in several other series, including “Murder She Wrote,” “The Twilight Zone,” and “Criminal Minds.”

Gordon Thomson played Adam Carrington, the firstborn child of Alexis and Blake, who was kidnapped as an infant and raised by another family. After “Dynasty,” Thomson went on to appear in several other soaps, including “Passions” and “Days Of Our Lives.” His most recent appearance is in the show “Winterthorne,” which is currently in pre-production. In 2017, the actor revealed that he is gay.

Forsythe played Blake Carrington, the oil tycoon at the center of it all. He stayed with the show for all nine seasons and reprised his character in the TV movie reunion in 1991. After retiring from the Carrington character, he appeared in a number of other shows and movies, even lending his voice to the “Charlie’s Angels” franchise in the early 2000s. Unfortunately, he passed away in 2010.
