Former President Donald Trump has never been one to shy away from speaking his mind, no matter how controversial it may sound. This time, he talked about his plans for migrants if he is re-elected.

Donald Trump has repeatedly made headlines since he left office in 2020. This time, the former president had a sit-down interview with the popular Time Magazine and went into detail about his plans if he is re-elected in the upcoming elections. More specifically, he focused on the recent migration problem in the country and how he intends to deal with it.

During the course of the interview, the interviewer asked Trump about different topics and issues affecting the country right now. They included the Capitol riot, immigration, reproductive rights, and many more. However, he declined to comment on most of these topics and focused majorly on the country’s migration crisis and his plans to solve them if he becomes the president again.

The interviewer asked the former president if his plan involves the use of special forces like the local police. Trump affirmed this and said that he plans to do so. He stated that he would use the local police to take action against migrants with criminal records. He also noted that he would get the military involved, more specifically, the National Guard.

The National Guard is a special force that is not usually used with civilians. However, Trump told Time Magazine that he would not stop at using the National Guard. The former president said that if he had to, he would go even higher to deal with the migration crisis. Therefore, this further proved that Trump is ready to use excess force if he had to.

Trump is very comfortable with the idea of using military force on illegal migrants because he believes that they are not civilians. Therefore, the law against using military force on civilians does not apply in this case nor require approval by Congress. Furthermore, he pointed out that the migrants are invaders in the country, thereby justifying his need for more force.

During the interview, Trump also tried to justify his need for excessive force against the migrants. He quoted an unknown source, saying that 29,000 illegal immigrants came into the U.S. in just three weeks. According to him, most of these people are males and they are of fighting age, thereby increasing the probability of increased crime in the country.

According to CNN, Trump’s statistics are not quite correct. In fact, they mentioned that it was an exaggeration and a “conspiracy theory” with no confirmed source. Although there is a high level of Chinese immigrants, The New York Times reported a number of more than 24,000 nationals who were caught trying to cross the US-Mexico border. However, this number was for the whole of 2023.

When the interviewer asked Trump what he would do about his former members of cabinet and advisors, he said that they taught him a huge lesson during his first term. Now, the former president vows to be stern and not lenient with those who fall short of his expectations. He also blamed his leniency on the fact that he had a soft heart and did not want to embarrass anyone.

Staying in line with his plans for illegal immigrants, Trump said that the probability of his administration using detention camps is low. This is because he does not intend to keep the migrants around. Instead, he wants to boot them out of the country almost immediately after they catch them. However, he also noted that he was not going to rule it out completely.

The interviewer pressed on the issue of the detention camps, quoting Trump’s close aide Stephen Miller’s comments that it was part of the administration’s plans. Again, Trump said that this was only a probability and he does not see his administration using them often. They intend to not keep the immigrants in the country and deport them almost immediately.

Without a doubt, the former president is even more confident during this campaign run. He said that he learned a lot in his first term in office and does not intend to make the same mistakes if Americans choose him again. Unlike before, he no longer has to rely heavily on people and is now very independent.

Most of the things Trump said in his interview with the magazine outlet have been promised for several years. As this is an election year, he is trying to remind his followers that his opinions and views have not changed. His adviser, Kellyanne Conway, says that the former president will be steadfast in his role if Americans vote him into the prestigious office once again.
