There are people they call triple threats in the world because they have not one or two but three great talents, and Selena Gomez is one of them. 

Not only is she gorgeous enough to pass as a model and dancer, but she is a talented singer with hits to her name and is also a versatile actress who was able to transition from a Disney child star playing princess-worthy roles to a woman bringing mature characters to life in films that have defined pop culture. Below are some of her best works.

There have been many Hollywood remakes of the Cinderella franchise, but one that truly stands out is the one featuring Selena Gomez. Gomez plays a dancer, Joey Parker (Drew Seeley), who runs into a masked ball. Unsurprisingly, he falls deeply in love with her and does all he can to find her. 

In this Disney gem, Gomez plays tomboy Carter Mason, a high school student who works at a bait shop and has to share her room and her life with Rosalinda (Demi Lovato), a princess who became a member of the Princess Protection Program.

Carter’s father runs the program and takes Rosalinda in to keep her safe. It takes some doing, but the princess and Carter are eventually able to get along, becoming support systems for each other and graduating into sisters who would do anything to keep the other safe and happy. 

Adapted from the classic Beverly Cleary books, this movie follows the adventures of two sisters who often clash over their respective interests. Gomez plays the big sister, Beezus, while Joey King plays her little sister, Ramona. The two have to put aside their differences to save their family house, a journey that teaches them just how important sisterhood is.

A fun-filled movie, “Monte Carlo” follows the adventure of three friends who quit their jobs as waitresses for a trip to Paris. Imagine their shock and glee when they arrive just to discover that Gomez’s character, Grace, is the replica of a French royal: Cordelia Winthrop Scott.

As fate or the directors would have it, Scott is away when they arrive, allowing Grace to assume her royal persona and giving her access to royal treatment in Monte Carlo.

This movie saw Gomez play a role that had nothing to do with Disney. In it, she plays Faith, one of four girls who plot to rob a diner, hoping to get enough money for a spring break trip to Florida.

This was one for the books, and Gomez’s voice played a central role in making it memorable. She voiced Mavis, Dracula’s daughter, who starts to fall in love with a human who stumbles onto her 118th birthday party, much to the dismay of her father. He tries his best to thwart their budding romance, but everything he does only brings them closer until, at last, he throws in the towel.

In this movie, the talented Gomez is joined by Nat Wolff, who plays the role of a gooey-eyed teen who enters an agreement with the son of a gangbanger just to get the character she plays to say yes to him. 

This movie follows the story of a grieving father who puts together a band in memory of his late son, who lost his life in a school shooting after discovering tapes left by him. Playing Kate Lucas, the son’s girlfriend, Gomez remained by his side as they both navigated the stages of grief in a performance recognized as one of her best. 

Gomez reprises her voice acting role in this installment of the hit animation several years after the first one dropped. It is centered around Mavis and her boyfriend-turned-husband Johnny, who are parents of a child seemingly born without any vampire abilities, worrying the couple and her Dracula. 

Her role in this movie as a stuck-up sorority president who tells Morgan, played by Chloe Grace Moretz, that sororities are not allowed to have parties was brief but impactful, setting the pace for the movie’s tumultuous plot.

Gomez plays a hitchhiker in this film, which follows the adventure of a retired writer who becomes a caregiver for Trevor (Craig Roberts), who lives with  Duchenne muscular dystrophy. They pick up Gomez on a road trip to visit the quirky landmarks Trevor adores, setting the scene for an emotionally charged adventure.

An adaptation of John Steinbeck’s novel of the same name, this movie follows the life of Gomez’s character, Lisa London, a pregnant woman with a child. This pregnant woman finds herself smack dab at the center of a migratory riot against landowners in the Golden State’s apple country.
