Miley Cyrus reveals how sobriety has helped her stay healthy. The pop icon began this journey when she was 26. She made this decision out of fear of being inducted into the unofficial “27 club” of musicians who died at age 27.

The “Disney” star also mentioned that fulfilling her purpose is important right now, and she’d love to improve her craft. Aside from the artist’s fear of death, another reason why she chose to be sober was because of her vocal surgery in November 2022. After the surgery, she wasn’t allowed to talk for four weeks.

When it comes to honing her skills, Cyrus believes that practice makes perfect. You can’t be good at what you do if you don’t spend time practicing. The singer added, “My mantra is, like any athlete, ‘Practice how you perform.’” This mantra is why the American singer and actress practices her performance in heels.

For Miley Cyrus, wearing heels while performing or practicing isn’t about getting stronger. Wearing those cute heels is her motivation whenever she works out. According to the singer, the gym looks tough, but she’s always with her ivory Gucci slingbacks.

If you’ve been a fan of Miley Cyrus when she began her singing career, you’d notice that her vocals are quite different now. This change happened after she had vocal surgery. Well, I guess the surgery did affect how she sounded that much.

After her performance at the 2024 Grammys, a fan spoke about the singer’s raspier and deeper tones. The fan mentioned that Cyrus’ performance was the best Grammy performance that has happened in a long time.

When Cyrus appeared on the Joe Rogan podcast in 2023, she discussed her findings about the human voice. She mentioned that some of our experiences can affect our voice, and she found this out after she was told she had Reinke’s edema.

According to the University of Pittsburgh’s page, women are more likely to suffer from the disease than men. Although the disease is mostly a result of smoking, it can also be caused by voice overuse. Also, whenever someone has this disease, their vocal cords get affected, and they can’t vibrate. This lack of vibration automatically leads to a change in voice.
