“Gen V” producers recently announced that they will not recast the role of Andre Anderson in the series, making Chance Perdomo the only actor for that role. Following Perdomo’s untimely passing, the team behind the beloved spin-off of “The Boys” shared this decision on the show’s official Instagram account.

In their post, the team paid tribute to the late actor and expressed their commitment to promoting Perdomo’s memory. They concluded that bringing in a new actor for that role would be inappropriate. Instead, they intend to celebrate Perdomo’s contributions and legacy within the show this season. So, fans can expect Andre Anderson to remain an important part of the storyline.

Chance Perdomo tragically passed away in a motorcycle accident in late March. Fortunately, no one else had injuries in the crash, though the exact cause of the crash is unknown. His untimely death delayed the production of season 2, prompting the producers to carefully consider how to move on without one of the main cast members.

At the time of his passing, the show’s producers described Perdomo as always smiling and charming, an energetic force of nature, and a talented actor. Above all, he was kind and lovely. Sadly, he died at  27 years old.

The release date for the show’s second season remains unannounced, leaving fans eagerly waiting to see how the show will host Chance Perdomo. As I mentioned earlier, Perdomo played Andre Anderson, one of the show’s main cast. Andre, best friends with Patrick Schwarzenegger’s Golden Boy, inherited his prominent father’s power of meta manipulation. This made his role crucial to the storyline.

A significant challenge for Season 2 will be resolving the cliffhanger from the end of the first season. Spoilers ahead, guys! Season 1 concluded with Marie (Jaz Sinclair) waking up in a bizarre hospital room without doors and beds alongside Jordan, Andre, and Emma. This setting most likely represents a mental rather than physical space, potentially allowing the creators to pay tribute to Chance Perdomo without drastically changing the show’s direction.

“Gen V” is produced by former “Marvel’s Agent Carter” showrunners Michele Fazekas and Tara Butters, with executive production from “The Boys” showrunner Eric Kripke, with Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg.

The cast includes Jaz Sinclair, Maddie Phillips, Lizze Broadway, London Thor, Derek Luh, and Asa Germann. Additionally, characters from “The Boys,” such as Jessie T. Usher, who played A-Train; Colby Minifie, as Ashley Barrett; and P.J. Byrne, as director Adam Bourke, made appearances in the first season.

As the “Gen V” team copes with the heartbreaking loss of Chance Perdomo, they remain dedicated to honoring his memory in the upcoming season.

Following Perdomo’s tragic passing in late March, Deadline reported that production for Season 2 was postponed. The cast was initially scheduled for their first table read on the day of his death. Tributes from his colleagues poured in, with Patrick Schwarzenegger, Robert Bazzocchi, and Maddie Phillips expressing their grief and honoring his memory.

Schwarzenegger, who portrays Luke Riordan in the series, tweeted, “This hurts. A lot. What a young, talented actor and a great friend – gone too soon. Was a pleasure to work with him in “Gen V.” RIP Chance (with love emojis).”

Maddie Phillips shared a heartfelt message on behalf of the cast on her Instagram Stories, saying their hearts are with Perdomo’s loved ones as they grieve the shocking loss. The message further read they will remember the special moments they had together, his infectious smile that could light up any room, his warm hugs, and the genuineness he had with him always. She concluded, saying, “Rest in peace, dear friend, you will be deeply missed.”

The “Gen V” family continues to find ways to honor Chance Perdomo, ensuring his spirit and contributions are celebrated in the forthcoming season.
