“Bachelor” Alum Reveals Cornfields Dispute Caused Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist’s Divorce

Did you know about Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist’s divorce? If not, the duo parted ways initially because of their living arrangements. However, “Bachelor,” Ben Higgins suggests there was more to the story than meets the eye.

During a recent episode of “The Ben and Ashley I Almost Famous” podcast with Ashley Iaconetti, Higgins shared a shocking story, claiming a dispute over cornfields played a role in their divorce. Higgins further emphasized that his claims are based on a rumor, a generalized account of a conversation between Turner and Nist.

He recounted that Turner and Nist were already experiencing tensions even before a planned trip to Indiana. During the two-hour drive from the airport to Turner’s lake house, Nist’s remarks about the extensive cornfields they passed through revealed an unexpected rift in their relationship. But wait, who fights over cornfields?

Disagreement Over Land Development Allegedly Contributed to Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist’s Divorce

Higgins noted that the expansive virgin land wowed Nist while driving to Turner’s lake house. She voiced her thoughts, highlighting what could be done if the land developed. It could house several office buildings and apartments.

Given the view, she also noted how a few towns could spring up in the large fields, and people might even consider relocating there. With the lake, she also thought about building a resort where people could vacation. But Turner did not feel the whole idea and allegedly responded, “You don’t take land from a farmer.”

Higgins added that the disagreement caused a huge point of contention in their relationship, reflecting their different versions of the world and how they wanted to invest in it. The couple’s representatives did not respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment. Jokingly, Iaconetti doubted the story, and Higgins reiterated that it was a rumor.

Former “Bachelor” star Chris Soules, a farmer himself, commented on the situation, saying he could understand both sides of the story. According to Soules, developing certain areas can be economically beneficial, and it makes sense because farmers always have a bunch of land to cultivate.

However, land is limited, and some people might undervalue this. He concluded by saying such a disagreement shouldn’t fundamentally disrupt a relationship. At least a compromise should be achievable. But everyone has their perspective.

Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist announced their divorce last month, ending their marriage after just three months. In a “Good Morning America” appearance, Turner noted that they had a tete-a-tete and looked closely at their living situation. So, they decided to end their marriage. Notably, Nist was also present at the show.

On the other hand, Nist added that many fans of “The Golden Bachelor” have poured out their support, giving them hope. She says, “We want none of that to change for anybody.” In January, the duo tied the knot in a televised ceremony after Turner proposed during the ABC reality dating series season finale.

However, their living situation proved to be a significant challenge. Nist, based in New Jersey, and Turner, living in Indiana, had plans to relocate to South Carolina, but those plans never materialized. How sad!

Nist noted that they looked at South Carolina homes and considered New Jersey. They kept checking several homes, but sadly, they never took bold steps to make everything work. At least that was what Nist said on “Good Morning America.”

To be clear, the duo emphasized that they do not have animosity toward each other. Moreover, it wasn’t like they fell out of love. According to Turner, he still loves Nist, and there is no doubt about that. He still thinks about her and will keep rooting for her daily.
