Bashaud Breeland, a former Kansas City Chiefs, and Super Bowl-winning cornerback, has been arrested for the second time in less than a year. According to reports, the former NFL star was arrested on drug charges after officials discovered multiple firearms and drugs in his car.
Officers reportedly found several containers of drugs, including marijuana, a bag of mushrooms, several bottles of promethazine hydrochloride, which is used for motion sickness, and an opioid pain reliever, dihydrocodeine bitartrate. Aside from the drugs found, officers also discovered multiple firearms.
While Breeland is not the first athlete to have faced drug-related charges, his case escalated after officers claimed he assaulted them during his arrest. Hence, the former NFL star is facing multiple charges, including felony drug charges.
In addition, the former Chiefs star is facing two misdemeanor charges of assaulting an official, one for resisting an officer, and two for injury to personal property. As stated earlier, the arrest over the past weekend was the former NFL star’s second in the past year.

In August 2023, authorities arrested and charged the Super Bowl-winning Kansas City Chiefs star with possession of stolen goods. These included 62 grams of stolen drugs, eight guns, and a vehicle. According to court documents, Breeland faces eight charges in the case.
However, the case is still pending. Breeland was a fourth-round pick in the 2014 draft with a career that spanned less than a decade. A former star at Clemson, where he played from 2010-2013, Breeland was picked by the then-Washington Redskins.
After four seasons with the team, Breeland left, joining the Packers in 2018. Afterward, he joined the Kansas City Chiefs, making an interception that won the team the 2020 Super Bowl. Throughout his short-lived career, Breeland intercepted 16 passes.

Before his frequent run-ins with the law, Breeland last played in the NFL in 2021 with the Minnesota Vikings. According to reports, the former Chiefs cornerback signed with the Arizona Cardinals practice squad in 2022. However, he never appeared for them.
Following his arrest, neither Breeland nor his management has addressed the allegations. Hence, the former NFL star’s fate remains unknown. While nothing is set in stone yet, legal experts say the athlete could face up to ten years in prison if found guilty.
As earlier stated, Bashaud Breeland is not the only athlete to have been arrested for gun and drug-related charges. Jack Jones is another NFL star who was arrested and charged with gun offenses. Authorities arrested him on June 16, 2023, after discovering two loaded firearms on him at Boston airport.
