The adoption of Louis Bardo Bullock in 2010 significantly changed Sandra Bullock’s life. Years later, Louis, who was adopted as a baby, has grown so much that his mom now considers him her ‘crown prince.’
Adopting a child was a big decision for Sandra back in 2010. But the award-winning actress would later explain that she was inspired to pursue adoption after Hurricane Katrina raged through New Orleans in 2005.
That was five years before her divorce from her ex-husband, Jesse James. She explained that she dragged her feet because she was unsure what to expect from a big decision like adoption.
But after her relationship with Jesse ended and because she had encouragement from family and friends, she decided that it was time to adopt a child. In a 2018 interview, Sandra said, “I did think [to herself], ‘Maybe not,’ but something told me, ‘My child is there.’ It was weird.”
Sandra’s Bond With Louis Bardo Bullock Happened Instantly
Following Louis’ adoption, Sandra bonded with the young boy instantly. She recalls that they have been close since the first day he was adopted. The story of her bond with Louis is as beautiful as a movie, and Sandra always tells it best.
In another interview with Hoda Kotb 2018, Sandra Bullock said concerning the first time she met Louis: “I looked at [Louis], and I just said, ‘Oh, there you are.’ It’s like he had always been there. It’s like he fit in the crook of my arm, looked me in the eyes, and was just — he was wise. My child was wise. The beautiful thing that I was constantly told was: ‘The perfect child will find you. You will find your child.'”
Indeed, Sandra and Louis found each other.
Louis Bardo Bullock has a sister, Laila Bullock. Sandra adopted her in 2015, following her successful experience with adopting Louis in 2010.
2015 was a great year because she not only adopted her second child but also found love again in Bryan Randall, a Los Angeles-based photographer. Since the start of their relationship in 2015, they have raised Louis and Laila together and continue to do so at the time of this publication.
There is not much to the story of Louis Bardo Bullock as he is still a kid. However, Louis’ story is in every sense Sandra’s story.
Sandra Bullock’s New Family
In 2010, Sandra lost a relationship and gained a son; in 2015, she gained both a daughter and a new relationship. The actress describes Louis’ sister, Laila Bullock, as a bold young girl who will accomplish big things.
But she sees Louis’ personality differently. For Sandra, “Lou is super sensitive, like Shecky Greene, a Jewish Catskills comic. He’s wise and kind. I saw that when they handed him to me. There was a spiritual bigness to him. I was like, ‘I hope I don’t eff that up.'”
Louis Bardo Bullock has been the perfect son for his mother. But Sandra has expressed that she would have been delighted if her children shared her skin color. She believes that would help remove prying eyes and at least make it easy on her family.
Sandra Bullock’s Kids Are Her Priority
Sandra doesn’t have to worry about the way she’s raising Louis and Laila. The award-winning actress made her children her priority. Ryan has also been a tremendously good father to the kids and a partner to Sandra.
Unlike in most adoption stories, Sandra is starting to see the result of her efforts on her children. During an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, she recalled Louis giving her some pivotal career advice. At the time, Louis was only six years old.
Sandra said: “I was approached by something … but my son said not to do it. I was not in the place that Louis felt I should be … and he was right!” This is one of the reasons she calls him her “Crown Prince.”
Sandra Bullock lives a quiet and happy life with her kids and partner. They call Bryan their father, and he calls them his children. Sandra clearly enjoys being a mom, and like the former first lady, Michelle Obama, she effectively manages her career and motherhood.
