Fame is not for everybody, and it is mostly not for Evan James Springsteen, son of famous singer Bruce Springsteen. He was known even before birth, but he has become a lover of privacy, so little is known about his life.
According to some sources, Evan, who shares his father’s good looks, also loves music. There are claims that he also enjoys singing and playing with musical instruments. However, Evan seemingly has no plans to become famous in showbiz.
Here is all we know about the reclusive son of the famous Bruce Springsteen.
Evan James Springsteen’s Background
Bruce Springsteen’s son was born while he was in a controversy. At the time, his father’s divorce from his first wife, Julianne Phillips, was yet to become official, and he was already living with his mother, Patti Scialfa.
Evan was born on July 25, 1990, and his arrival followed the brief overlap in the two relationships. He was born seven months after his father’s divorce from Julianne was finalized.
Years later, Bruce confessed: “I didn’t protect Juli… some sort of public announcement would have been fair, but I felt overly concerned about my privacy.”
In truth, Bruce met Patti before he met Julianne, and the two had been teetering on the edge of a romance. However, the blossoming bond was somehow shelved, and in the interim, Bruce married Julianne.
The marriage barely lasted four years, as the singer never forgot Patti.
Evan James Springsteen Was Never Impressed By Fame
Bruce and Patti found their way back to each other and married one year after Evan was born. The singer was 40 then, Patti was 36, and Evan was their firstborn. Right from the moment he arrived, he was surrounded by love. Even now, his mother calls him “Evan from Heaven” on her social media posts.
This is unsurprising. Patti had been excited to meet her son when the doctor told her of his existence. She recalled the unforgettable moment:
“I remember when the Dr. informed me that You were on your way! I was exhilarated and had never felt the kind of strength and wonder I experienced at that moment.”
Patti Scialfa
Evan was born into fame, but according to his father, he was not enamored by fame or publicity. According to Bruce, as a child, Evan had his interests and icons he admired, but he wasn’t one of them. The singer and his wife welcomed more kids as time passed, but even they had no interest in their famous lives.
He once shared: “We had our kids late. I was 40 when our first son was born, and they showed a healthy disinterest in our work over the years. They had their musical heroes; they had the music they were interested in. They’d be pretty blank-faced if someone mentioned a song title of mine.”
Still, despite his apathy towards his father’s works, Evan has proven he is the iconic singer’s son. In 2018, he played his father’s iconic hit “No Surrender,” marveling many. He dedicated it to his maternal grandfather, who was battling cancer. That moment proved Evan has talent, but it is not the only time his musical genes have shone.
Evan James Springsteen’s Musical Career
Evan is not enthusiastic about his father’s music. However, he does not feel the same way about every other music. Indeed, Evan James Springsteen seems to have inherited his parents’ musical gifts and has been described as a talented musician, songwriter, and singer. He attended Ranney School but was always more interested in music than academics.
In 2012, he won the Singer/Songwriter Competition at the Boston College’s Arts Festival. It proved that he is the great Bruce Springsteen’s son and that talent flows in his veins. Unfortunately, Evan does not seem interested in fame.
Evan is very sheltered and leaves all his social media accounts private. The talented man has shared a stage with his dad and showed off his rich, gravelly voice, but he seems more comfortable working behind the scenes as a producer and music programmer.
