Global rap superstar Drake took a moment to honor a mother and her daughter who died shortly after his concert on February 13th. The rapper is currently on tour and made a stop at Enterprise Center in St. Louis. Both died in a tragic hit-and-run accident.
“You never know what somebody else’s reality will be when they walk out of this building,” Drake told the crowd in Buffalo, New York, on February 28th. “Rest in peace to that young mother and her child,” he added, encouraging fans to show love to the strangers around them.
The mother, Laticha Bracero, and daughter, Alyssa Cordova, were leaving Drake and J. Cole’s joint “It’s All a Blur – Big As the What?” tour stop when a speeding car ran a red light and hit them. TMZ released footage of the hit, and it was terrifying to behold.
The suspect was driving at 70 mph and struck both mother and child, sending them away. According to the St. Louis Metropolitan police department’s reports, Bracero passed away immediately at the scene. Sadly, her daughter Cordova also passed away shortly after at a hospital.

The authorities have arrested the suspect, Monte Henderson, and charged him with two counts of armed criminal action and involuntary manslaughter. When the footage dropped on social media, many were devastated at the brutality of it.
A user on X (formerly known as Twitter) said, “They didn’t stand a chance at the speed he was going. This is so sad.” Another user wrote, “He literally ran the red light & plowed into the mother & daughter, killing them. He needs to be put in prison, in my opinion. He killed 2 beautiful people.”
What’s more, Henderson is out on a $20,000 bail, and people are livid. He cut the lives of these people short due to terrible, reckless driving. The mother was only 42 years old, while the daughter was 21 years old.

A user on X wrote, “Imagine being the family of these 2 women and having to see videos like this all over the internet. And as if that is not bad enough, knowing the guilty are being handled with kid gloves… If the family took the law into their own hands & I was on the jury, I would not convict.”
Furthermore, an officer expressed in a report his concerns about Henderson’s likelihood to voluntarily appear in court. He also stated that Henderson is a potential danger to the community.
Now, Bracero’s sister has set up a GoFundMe account to help raise money for a funeral and to transfer their bodies back to their hometown of Chicago. As of today, they have raised about $40,000. According to the page, the mother and daughter duo were inseparable and loved each other dearly.

Alyssa loved music concerts, and although she was old enough to travel to concerts on her own, her mom would always escort her. The two were inseparable and shared a strong bond.” It was indeed a tragic accident.
