According to reports, Florida governor and previous GOP presidential candidate Ron DeSantis is not going to be able to give a speech at the Republican National Convention the following week.
As sources also claim that previous US ambassador Nikki Haley has not even received an invitation to participate, the action is perceived as a slight to Trump’s political opponents.
Main Competition
The GOP primaries this year featured a fierce battle before Donald Trump easily defeated the opposition.
Ron DeSantis, Chris Christie, Vivek Ramaswamy, and Nikki Haley were among the opponents he had to contend with.
The Trump-Rejecting Group
Republicans seeking an alternative to Trump during the primary turned to candidates with wider popularity than Trump, such as Nikki Haley and Ron DeSantis.
Desantis represented an improved, polished, healthier form of Trump, having already won congressional successes in Florida that set national precedents. Haley portrayed herself as a more reasonable anti-Trump candidate, symbolizing her disapproval of Trump.
Considered a Betrayal
Haley and DeSantis, two of Trump’s main rivals, were perceived by him as betraying him. Trump believes that he is the one who elevated DeSantis’ national reputation and won him the governorship. In his previous administration, he appointed Haley as US ambassador.
A longstanding Trump advisor, Roger Stone, asserted in 2022 that Ron DeSantis tied his governorship to Trump and that all of the statements made by the president were genuine. It was going to be a dangerous gesture of betrayal, he continued, to challenge Trump in 2024.

The GOP National Convention
It is anticipated that Trump will secure the nomination and emerge as the official Republican presidential candidate at the Republicans’ National Convention, which takes place in Milwaukee next week.

Governor DeSantis

DeSantis, according to a person who understands the festival’s arrangements, will not be featured on stage for the whole of the four-day event, as reported by USA Today.
Unusual Action
Some find it strange that DeSantis would not be permitted to make an appearance during the gathering in an attempt to bring the party together.
In 2028, the GOP will require new leadership to carry on after Trump, and one of the main purposes of conventions such as this one is to present and encourage potential candidates to the electorate.
Why is DeSantis Not Included?
That DeSantis might get ignored in this manner appears odd considering the probability that he will be the GOP front-runner in 2028.
Though Trump has been spotted hugging other former primary rivals like Vivek Ramaswamy, others postulate that the gesture stems from a persistent hostility between the two.
