Christian Culkin is most famous for being Macaulay Culkin’s brother, but there is more to him than the title. For example, Christian is also listed as an actor even though he only has one credit to his name. Keep reading to learn more about Christian and the life he lives.
Christian Culkin Biography
Macaulay Culkin’s brother was born in New York on January 30, 1987. He is the second youngest child of their parents, Kit Culkin and Patricia Brentrup. He appeared in the 1994 film “My Summer Story” alongside his brother Kieran Culkin. However, he has no other acting credits.
He got his name “Christian” because of how close it is to his father’s name, Christopher, while his middle name, Patrick, is as close as they could get to his mother’s maiden name, Patricia.
In his early childhood, the Culkin family resided in a small apartment. The place where they lived for nine years was a NYC tenement railroad apartment, and it had no separating doors except for the one leading to the bathroom.
It was all they could afford. Christian’s mother, Patricia, worked as a telephone operator while his dad was a sacristan at a local Catholic church. Although not confirmed, Christian reportedly practiced Roman Catholicism in those early days. Life as a kid was unpredictable for Christian and his siblings because of their poor financial status.
Fortunately, they had an excellent matriarch in Brentrup. Through Kit’s shortcomings, she was the glue that held their family together for years. Kit was prone to anger and quick to abuse and, in the end, started disappearing for extended periods.
Christian Culkin Parents
Christian’s parents are Kit Culkin and Patricia Brentrup. They were together for over two decades, from 1974 to 1995; however, they never tied the knot. Some sources claim the pair first met in North Dakota before dating in 1974. They lived in North Dakota for some years, then relocated to New York.
They welcomed seven children: Shane, Dakota, Macaulay, Kieran, Quinn, Christian, and Rory. When they finally separated for good, Kit and Brentrup got embroiled in a court battle for the custody of their seven children.
After she left Kit, Brentrup moved on with Mart D. Cox, whom she married and had a daughter, Kara Cox. On the other hand, Christian’s father, Kit, went on to date Jeanette Krylowski. The pair resided in a two-bedroom condo in Phoenix, Arizona. Unfortunately, Jeanette passed away in 2017.
It is unclear if Christian is tight with his dad, but we know that his older brothers Kieran and Macaulay have been estranged from the man for a long time. When a reporter asked Kit about his most famous son, Macaulay, Kit said he no longer considers him a son.
Christian Culkin Siblings
He has seven siblings: Shane, Dakota, Macaulay, Kieran, Quinn, Rory, and Jennifer Adamson. Christian’s older siblings include Jennifer (1970–2000), Shane (born 1976), Dakota (1979–2008), Macaulay Culkin (born 1980), Kieran (born 1982), and Quinn (born 1984).
His only younger sibling is Rory, who was born in 1989. He is also an actor like Christian but is known for more projects, including “Scream 4,” “Lords of Chaos,” “You Can Count on Me,” “Columbus,” and “M. Night Shyamalan’s Signs.”
At this time, Christian has lost two of his siblings. His older sister, Dakota, passed away at 30 from a car accident in 2008. According to reports, it happened as she stepped off a curb, and there was no saving her.
The second sibling Christian lost was Jennifer. In truth, she was his half-sister, and she died in 2000 from a drug overdose.
