Bernadette San Pedro Bayot was the mother of the famous singer, songwriter, and record producer Bruno Mars. She was born on August 14, 1957, in Manila, Capital District, National Capital Region, in the Philippines. Her parents were Eugene Herranz Bayot and Soledad San Pedro Bayot.
As one could tell from her name, Bernadette was of Filipino and Spanish ancestry. However, she lived in Hawaii after emigrating from the Philippines when she was only ten. Bernadette’s parents decided to move to the US and originally planned to move to San Francisco, where her grandmother resided.
However, the family later decided to settle in Hawaii as its rich culture reminded them of the Philippines and made them feel right at home. The family made this move in 1968 and have been residents ever since.
