Robyn Bernard, known for her role at “General Hospital” during the 1980s, passed away at 64. Police discovered the actress’ body in an “open field behind a business” in San Jacinto, California, on a Tuesday morning, according to a press release from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office.
She was declared dead at 4:08 a.m. local time.
As reported by the Riverside County Coroner’s Office, the actress was discovered in a field behind a business in San Jacinto, California, early Tuesday morning. The exact cause of her death has not yet been determined, and the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office is conducting an ongoing investigation.
Born on May 26, 1959, in Gladewater, Texas, Bernard was the elder sister of Crystal Bernard, best known for her role in “Wings.” Bernard’s acting career commenced with her debut in “Diva” in 1981.

Bernard’s acting repertoire also included guest appearances on various television series, such as “Simon & Simon,” “Whiz Kids,” “The Facts of Life,” “Tour of Duty,” and “Maigret,” as well as roles in films like “Betty Blue” (1986), “Roselyne and the Lions” (1989), and “Kings for a Day” (1997).
Her final onscreen performance was in “Voices From the High School” (2002), where she portrayed a psychologist. However, it wasn’t until 1984 that she gained widespread recognition when she secured the role of Terry Brock on the ABC soap opera “General Hospital.”
Bernard, who portrayed the daughter of David Groh’s character, D.L. Brock, appeared in 145 episodes until her departure in 1990. Her character, Terry, struggled with alcoholism, which significantly affected her music career on the show.

The cause of death has not been determined, but the coroner completed the star’s autopsy Wednesday. Toxicology results will take several weeks to come back; however, police do not suspect foul play. She got her big break in 1984 when she landed her role in “General Hospital,” on which she appeared in 145 episodes until 1990.
Bernard played the daughter of David Groh’s villainous D.L. Brock until her character developed a drinking problem that ultimately impacted her fictional music career. Robyn’s last acting credit came in 2002 when she played a psychologist in “Voices from High School.” She then remained out of the spotlight to lead a private life.
A Texas preacher’s daughter, she started out as a child singer with her sister Crystal, who would star in the 1990s TV series “Wings.” Bernard attended Baylor University but dropped out after some wild partying.
“I was bitter about all the pressure that had been put upon me,” she said of her strict religious upbringing in a 1985 interview with Boca Raton News. “So I walked the other side. I have to admit it didn’t do much for my grades. So after a few semesters, I quit and went to Nashville.”

Robyn lived in Music City for three years before driving to Holly to get on the most popular soap opera. It didn’t take long.
“One of the nice things about doing General Hospital is they let me sing on the show,” she said in a 1986 interview with United Features Syndicate. “And they tied in my background as a gospel singer, my character’s background.”
She is survived by her father, Jerry Wayne Bernard, and two sisters, Crystal and Scarlett Bernard.
