How Did Anthony A.J Johnson Die?

Months after the death of Anthony A.J Johnson, the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office revealed his cause of death.

In the report released on February 9, 2022, the department revealed that the actor of the WB sitcom died from chronic ethanol use or in a more common term, chronic drinking.

The report also clarified that the comedian died in the hospital, with no other significant health complications contributing to his demise. The medical report confirming his cause of death finally debunked wild speculations that the “Jamie Foxx Show” star died from COVID-19-related complications.

Anthony A.J Johnson’s Life And Career

Before his death, Anthony A.J Johnson was a big name in the industry, with roles in hit sitcoms like “Martins” and “Friday.” Born in May 1965 in Compton, California, the comedic actor began his pursuits from a young age, nursing his acting dreams.

He grew up the son of a stuntman and founder of the Black Stuntmen’s Association, picking up some of his earliest showbiz knowledge. Johnson shot into the limelight in the nineties, with his performance as E.Z.L in the movie, “House Party.”

He went on to play Ezal in the 1995 comedy “Friday,” which further boosted his fame. Over time, the actor landed more roles in movies like “Lethal Weapon,” “House Party 3,” “Menace II Society,” “Candy,” “I Got The Hook-Up,” and “The Players Club,” among others.

Aside from acting, Johnson sustained his career as a stand-up comedian, famously suffering a heart attack in 2009 during one of his shows.

Additionally, the icon appeared in some music videos, lending his comedic elements. All these ventures earned him a substantial net worth of up to $100,000 before his passing. Anthony Johnson left behind his wife Lexis and at least three children.
